Haha, funny. I prefer the ones that have more RPG aspects because I like how you don't have to play as a ruler. It's fun to play as a general or a strategist. Less fun as a prefect, but you get more time to gallavant around the country doing quests and collecting cool items.

Me too, actually, and my wife even more so.

I actually like playing Prefect best.  Honestly so long as you invade enough to keep your city on the border it's awesome.  I took my PS2 apart and fixed it to play the officer version (blue disk)  because I hated the play as force version (dvd) which hits me as a generic war game instead of the artful political game the officer type is.

Also.. You could try the multiplayer Master of Magic thing.. or for the brave Emperor of the Fading Suns.
