Name: Skisk
Gender: Male
Race: Serpent Man
Skills: Skilled Wrestler (4), Skilled Dodger (4), Adequate Armor User (2)
Equipment: Copper Mail Shirt (40), Copper Helmet (22)
Bio: Unsatisfied with life in a cavern, living in mud and fear of the many unknown dangers that lurked all around, Skisk left via an abandoned Dwarven mine and has entered the Blood Throne Arena for glory and money.
13 dorfbucks in pocket

Also, do you realize that daggers and whips are overpowered right now? They both ignore armor far more than they should. Other than that, I hope that your arena thread lives on. They are always fun to watch.

EDIT:
I bet my 13 dorfbucks that Kzelo will win.

Name: Naryar
Race: Human
Skills: Proficient Dodger, Proficient Fighter
Equipment: 2 two-humped camel leather high boots, 1 copper mail shirt, 1 copper cap, 1 two-humped camel bone bolt (for stabbing enemies with). No money left.
Bio: Originally a trader in the rocky wastes, Naryar become increasingly violent after his prolonged exposure to gratuitous attacks by camels. Obviously this trait was not suited for a good trader, so after getting warned by the trader guild he decided to try it's luck somewhere else than in trading. He found an ancient, stereotyped monastery, buried in the sand. There, he learned a bit of unarmed fighting. Then he decided to walk the wastes, and went to the north. He learned here something about a blood throne combat tournament, and decided to take his chances on it, to show the rest of the world that the self-proclaimed "Two-Humped Camel Style" he was walking the path of wasn't a joke.

@Crazy Cow. Added, and no I didn't know that daggers were OP, but when (or if) Toady 'fixes' that, then anyone with a strong dagger-build will suddenly find themselves down a couple of leagues :P [Edit] Had to check that Serpent Men were in fact classified as a animal man. It is (alongside Amphibian men,  Antmen, Cave fish men, Cave swallow men, Olm men, Reptile men, and Rodent men), so everything is fine. However I just noticed a bit of wiki trivia that I think your opponents should realize:
Unlike other animal men, they have a venomous bite that will quickly cause a syndrome that paralyzes any dwarves, likely causing them to die of suffocation shortly afterwards. However, as long as serpent men are armed, they will always use their weapons instead of biting.

Have fun Skisk's opponents *wince*.

@Naryar: Oh. Lol. That is funny... I thought all leather had at least a value multiplier of x2, but it turns out most has a multiplier of x1. So there you go. You don't need to have just wolf leather *duhhhhhhhhhhh* But you are added too.

Finally, set up the next two games:

Today, 9:00pm NZT: Dancing Dagger vs. Skisk. Tommorow, 12 noon NZT: Stiric vs. Naryar.

There happens to be a reason Skisk is a wrestler.
*maniac laugh*
My favorite races in Dwarf Fortress happen to be the animal men, and most if not all of my characters will be animal men.
And I lol'ed at the "Two-Humped Camel Style."

EDIT:
Are Badger Men and Tiger Men considered Animal Men? Just curious about the possibility of ARRGH! SNAKE! the Badger Man.

Actually I think serpent men are OP because of the syndrome. Though as Skisk is a wrestler and not a BITER... there will be no bonuses from wrestling skill to his bite attacks :P

Plus AI wrestlers ? I don't think they work that well, unlike player controlled wrestlers that can choke an humanoid into unconsciousness pretty soon.

I am also quite sure all races are not equal. I am quite sure a tigerman, badger man or better platypus man can tear a dwarf/human easily.

EDIT 2: Hey Digitcruncher, I cannot visibly get two-humped camel bone bolts in arena mode. If you do not succeed in getting some (would be more fitting for my character), just use a blood thorn bolt, then.

Apparently, in arena mode, you cannot make leather shields, only wooden or metallic ones. I have swapped Beans 'Wolf Leather Shield' with an equivalently priced 'Pine Shield'. Sorry about that!

@Crazy Cow: Since Badger Men and Tiger Men do not have the [CAN_LEARN] tag, as well as do not normally create villages (You can stumble upon a Serpent Man village underground, but not a Badger Man village), no. Badger/Tigermen do not classify as animal-men. That was an exhaustive list I gave there (And I will make that more clear in the OP). The reasoning behind this? Badger men and Tiger men are in the 'Humanoid Creature' group, not the 'Races' group, and as such, they share the same properties as Trolls, Harpies, and Magma Men. Although, it may be balanced enough to accept any Humanoid monster, if they are willing to drop all skill points, but I am not so sure about that.

@Naryar: If it gets too carried away (IE. EVERYONE going Serpent Man), then I may ban future Serpent Men, but what he did was well within the rules.

Note to self - purchase pet at first opportunity. Numbers help very much, it seems. I can spend extra dorfbucks on new stuff, right? I would think so, but it is best to know for sure.

And finally, I knew that Tigermen and Badger Men weren't civilization-creating animal men, but I was wondering about making characters out of them. Thank you for clearing that up.

EDIT:
Read the discussion. Never mind about the winnings.

I knew I would die if had to fight kzelo first round. The ranged weapon + pet is a pretty solid plan. I was hoping to get a hit in at least.

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

Yes you can, and round up. I will add it to your equipment now.

And on one of the previous run-ins, you managed to get within 2 tiles of Kzelo, AND stick your pick in his pets torso. Still survived it though >.<

Helmet Snakes have a pet value of 50.
Team Syndrome, go!

EDIT:
Stupid me didn't read the rules fully.

Because pets rock, and Beakdog is actually the strongest [Petvalue:50] beast:

Name: Copycat
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Bowyer (10)
Pet: Beakdog (50) named Clever Girl (and obviously female)
Equipment: Wooden Bow (10) and 6xCopper arrows(12)
3 dwarfbucks in bank.

Copycat has seen a goblin win the battles with his pet. She wants to win, even though it means 'stealing' a tactic. Screw popularity, she wants to win!

A quick scan of the stocks menu shows that one of the dead pack animals has a bin full of silk cloth!  It is speedily unforbidden, and my moody glassmaker sprints off to retrieve his prize amongst the smoking, charred, blood-soaked ruin that is the outdoors, totally oblivious to the carnage that was instigated on his behalf.

Because you expect a bow to use bolts as ammunition ?
