I'm not saying there is the perfect stereotype. I'm just applying my obversations of the effects caused by differences between people. aka all rascism and discrimination. Conformity is the way to happiness. If we are all the same, or at least within certain limits, then we won't argue. Simple really.

Also he just completely blew off transexuals there.

To the out-of-context thread (unless someone beat me to it)!

WIN!

FUCK!!!

At the age of sixteen, I wouldn't expect many to be past the stage of believing there is an ideal stereotype of a man that any boy is expected to for fill, and anything less is a sub par, or 'soft'. In the world of many a testosterone driven boy, 'masculine' is the most admirable trait.

I know.  And that's why I'm arguing, rather than just lying back and saying "Okay, let's just let it go, okay, okay."

Just because it is normal does not mean it is desirable.

Give me a way to go back in time and be a man from birth, and we'll talk.  That, and if everyone in the world were a carbon copy of me, there wouldn't be this magical agreement.  There would be a lot of violent arguing.

What you need to understand is that, simply put, conformity is not an option.  We have not been given that choice.  Now what?

Interesting that you bring that up.  I seem to recall a certain someone (no, not you) trying to defend their man card several weeks ago.

Conformity is not the lack of unhappiness, it's the lack of happiness.

You're basically saying that you'd be perfectly fine with living in a world like Orwell's 1984.

Yes it is, Jack.

I'd suggest you try and listen to Vector, Gamerknight. She's hitting all the nails on the head here and flinging more shit when you've backed yourself into a corner because your shit is already all over the floor is really, really not going to help.

Not me? Well that is a shame, a fun debate could have come from that. I mean I am willing to play devils advocate for just about anything, so supporting the stereotype that guys should be muscle bound morons who blow shit up, while girls should be slim prizes who produce sandwiches, is not beyond me. Would be hard to pull out any legit arguments, but who knows?

I will bash it, because it is dumb and stupid and you have formed preconceptions on how someone "should" be. I will not conform to everyone else, I will not be the same as everyone else. I will stop being human when that happens and people telling me it would be grand are objectively wrong and there's no reason for me to hold my tongue when something is objectively wrong. It being the internet there's nothing keeping me from holding my tongue regardless, but did you seriously think I wouldn't dispute this?

This all started because you were homophobic, remember. Reflect on that, try and learn something.

I just hate conflict. I want everyone to be the same, then everyone will know what everyone else is thinking. And we won't hurt eachother. Diversity has caused some of the most horrific acts in history.

And striving to completely remove the idea of the individual hasn't? Or won't?

Think this through a bit more, come back with a more coherent idea and I'll watch as Aqizzar rips it apart instead of me. It'll be rather more entertaining than my anger, at the very least.

Your paradise is a dystopia. Which is kind of defined as the opposite of paradise (utopia). Not only is absolute conformity never going happen, ever, it's also just about the worst thing that could happen.

I just hate conflict. I want everyone to be the same, then everyone will know what everyone else is thinking. And we won't hurt eachother. Diversity has caused some of the most horrific acts in history.
Conflict isn't even caused by diversity, it's people like you that want everyone to be the same.

Diversity has caused some of the most horrific acts in history.

Diversity is also the reason life as we know it still exists.

On second thought, that was a miss.  Biodiversity and more general diversity probably aren't comparable here.

Actually, this is ironic: I'm arguing against differences, and differences are causing this arguement.  :P
