Ah, I see. Well some people can get rather attached to their other half. I, for example, went through a phase where I could not stop talking about subway sammiches. Darn I could go for one of those right now really...

I worked in Subway for a while there, and tell you what, I never looked forward to my lunch break more. So full of win!

Man, you guys must not have good local places where you live. I will pray for you.

Regarding the topic: I hate, hate, hate how this is even an issue anymore. It's bad enough that binary/ternary sexual orientation is even still considered the be-all and end-all of the matter, never mind having to actually convince people that being gay is okay, regardless of what combination of environmental and genetic factors are the cause of it.

Hah hah nope! I live in the sweet spot between the city and the country where it is cookie cutter housing and big corporations as far as the eye can see!

It's also worth noting that the gay rights movement (or at least large elements of it) totally shot themselves in the foot years back with the argument that being gay is strictly genetic, or determined early in life, or otherwise not having anything to do with personal choice and experiences. This shifts the argument away from "being gay is fine" to "being gay isn't my fault", leaving the door still open for homophobes to say that being gay is a problem even if it's solely a genetic problem, and sets back gender-related progress in general by completely throwing all subtlety and nuance under the bus; see all those news stories about animal genetics where it's implied that someone has finally found the "gay gene". And now, in order to have a decent argument about sexual orientation, you have to basically backpedal and start from scratch.

This isn't to say that I think that sexual orientation is a "choice", just that it's far too complicated to say that it's a choice or genetic, or any other silly reductionist explanation.

I'm bisexual, so I guess I'm okay with the LGBT crowd.

I guess.
I'm gay, so I guess I'm okay with you.

Maybe.
Oh? Well I guess we're both fine then.

On a more serious note, I actually don't want anything to do with the community. Being bisexual defines some, not all of me and I am completely uninterested in activism or anything like that, partly because of what G-Flex said. And I don't want to be part of a community of people who are the same as me because I don't give a rat's ass about sexual orientation. I have never yet met someone specifically to woo them, friendship is more important to me. That will change, yes, but even then I'm sure I'll feel the same way. It's difficult to put into words. The idea of joining any LGBT group has never held any appeal to me, in fact it's seemed extremely unappealing. I guess I'm just weird.

Why would you even choose 'passive aggressive' as a feat? Sure it sometimes provides a nice boost to social skills, but no point in anything that doesn't improve your bluff. You could have got something cool like 'juggle'.

Actually, thinking about it? The whole Gay Pride Parade thing annoys me. Mostly because there shouldn't have to be a day dedicated to going 'yeah, this is fine', not anymore. But also because it just annoys me on some basic level I can't really express in words.

I guess I'm a homophobe? Hey, it's a +1 to self-loathing and I'm a sucker for stat bonuses.

I'm not actually a homophobe

Well the Death Guard, Blood Knight, Shadow Stalker and Emo classes all do well with a high self-loathing stat. I recon take a few levels in emo so that you can duel wield razor blades then cross class over to Blood Knight. We could use a buff/debuff guy anyway.

Nah, I'm with you.  I think I'd feel obligated to perform as a label, rather than an individual, and I ... just don't want the label, really, because every time I try to pin myself down into some box or another, I wind up asking "But am I really?"  I don't want to have to try to "pass as queer" or something... I hear there's a lot of nasty internal politics that happens in those sorts of groups.

Same reason why I don't join feminist groups.  I don't feel very comfortable in groups that are all women, just like I don't feel comfortable in groups that are all white or all male.

Huh. I'm fine with gays as long as they're men, like my cousin, as in they don't go for all the hair styling and stuff.
