Alright, I have yet to see a single thread about this in all my time at GD. I realize that anywhere else on the internet, having a thread about this would bring up a shitstorm, a raging infero of fecal matter consuming all who take part.

Let's talk about homosexuality.

More specifically, I want to hear Bay 12's opinions on it. I am positive we have at least some members who may or may not be homosexual. I'm not myself, which is probably the reason I actually use the word "homosexual" as for some reason that and the word "gay" are the only ones I can come up with that don't sound at least slightly innately negatively connotative. However, knowing a few people who have come out to me as such, I am interested in what people on here have to say on the matter.

Only thing: keep it civil. Please don't flame people. Though I have a feeling I don't have to tell you guys that twice. I am open to all opinions and views though, and won't disrespect anyone for what they think about this. (oh and when I say homosexual, I mean anything from the LGBT spectrum)

My opinions: I was raised in an area where generally no one cares. I was never taught anything other than to accept people for who they are, so they only differing opinions I've really heard were from extended family members, people outside of my town and the internet. I think the fact, though, that apparently the largest group of people in my country (America, dunno about how it is in the UK or other countries though if it is different I'd like to hear that too!) are both vocal and against nonstandard sexual preferences is an impediment in the lives of people who are gay and scared to say anything. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think it's sad that they're probably right in that they have things to fear (other people, specifically) if they say anything. Hmm.

I've absolutely no problems with Non hets, so long as that aren't claiming to be bi/homo just to be an attention whore.

I know many LGBT (and fall under two of the four myself) people.
Some of them are the best people I've ever met.
I have had issues with some gay guys at my school who are so adamant about it that they refuse to follow common sense, though.
Like wearing high-heeled boots during PE and spraining an ankle.

If they were and I met them I wouldn't know.

Speaking of wouldn't know: I have -1 "gaydar"s. When I predict someone might be gay, nine times out of ten I turn out to be wrong.

I know where you're coming from. My best friend is part of the LGBT crowd (specifically the first one). But wearing high heels in general does seem a bit silly in PE  :-\

I have absolutely no problem with homosexuality. If you are homosexual it doesn't affect me so I really don't care what you do on your own time.

I'm fine with homosexuality. Sexual preference means nothing to me.

edit: I just found out this is my 1337th post!

While I only know a few gays from high school, and that are now a few thousand kilometres away, I have never had a problem with it at all. Rather I struggle to understand what some people do have against homosexuals. Homophobia just does not register under any level of rational for me. A racist person who hates people with dark skin can at least look at an under privileged community that has higher crime rates and a higher percent of people with dark skin and say to himself "Well there must be some connection here, and the connection must be that black people are more prone to commit crime!", that doesn't make it true or justified, but I can see how they would come to that mistaken conclusion.

Homophobia, however, I can see no reason for, valid or invalid.

My father is gay, and it's one of the few things about him I don't hate.

Hey, that's actually pretty cool I think.

Unless it was like the situation with my uncle. Came out as gay in the old days, forced into an arranged marriage with a woman, was expected to have kids and so did. Or something like that. I always felt a little bad for him.

Unfortunately I've had a lot of anti-gay propaganda shoved down my throat on a local festival day ("apple festival") for sticking up for a friend who would have just been sticking up for themselves. But I think the same could definitely apply the other way around though I have not heard any "become gay today!" ads.

Now that I think about it I know a lot of people who are gay.

The demography in bay 12 are way off to get any discussion on this point.

I don’t care. Males being affectionate feels creepy to me, but that is if they are with male or female.

You can apply bad things to any set of people like that. Including homosexuals.

Then you have not heard anything spoken on the subject by a devout Christian homophobe. According to a passage in Leviticus, homosexuality is a crime against God.

There is nothing about homosexuality or bisexuality that renders them inequal to heterosexuality. My opinion is that gay marriage should be federally legalized in the US (and everywhere else for that matter), as soon as we possibly can. Note that I make a distinction between marriage and "civil partnerships", which I see as clearly being nothing more than a concession by those unwilling to allow gay people to get married because they view marriage as "holy", but also want gay people to stop asking for equal rights.

And here's the article that they came from.

Probably true, but the opinions will differ person to person regardless of the fundamental yes or no behind them.

That last one has a interesting trend.

I would like to know the thoughts of the people of bay 12 on that.
