This machine fires slade collosi at supersonic speeds.

This machine collides Goblins and slade colussi at near light speed. It is powered by sheer Dwarf power and the blood of one thousand Elves.

Checkmate.

Okay enough of this, this thread hasn't been up for an hour and we've already derailed it. Once you guys make a slade colussus cannon, call me. Until then, let's get back on track.

In my early days I tried to use bridges as catapults to shoot corpses at invaders.

Wasn't that effective.

So I started to fling nobles instead

I made an execution pit where I planned on dropping iron/steel anvils on a group of trapped enemies slaying them Acme style, but was so disappointed when the anvils did nothing.

Funny thing I learned, an adamantine anvil weighs 2 Urists. That's almost as little as a piece of jewelry. I bet that thing bounces off the ground when the hammer strikes it.

I've planned and am trying to get a fort going in order to construct a combination of the Dodge ThisTM and rising magma. I'm hoping to get it rolling before the end of the month.

I find lava rain works well. link it up to a pump system and you're good to go! gets rid of all that icky copper for you too, leaving only the precious goblinite behind.
I read this, and the first thing that popped into my head was to make some statues with floor grates around them, and create a magma mist statue garden for the invaders to enter through (with a "we have guests!" lever to activate the magma flow, of course).

I've rigged a nice little drowning trap on the edge of an aquifer that be flooded or drained with the pull of a lever.

Most elaborate thing I've created so far is a drowning chamber outside the fortress, carved into a hill, with a kitten chained behind a door used as a lure. Only real problem with it is that the kitten eventually grows up which lowers the cuteness value of the trap.
