Looking for a fun game..
« on: March 25, 2011, 10:54:36 pm »

Alright i been kinda bored lately so i thought i would come here and see what kind of recommendations you all have

Been playing Cave of qud, Always liked good RL's
Online(love Pvp or pve..Play mostly supports or the oddball classes and love crafting) or single player it don't matter to me ..
Free only ..i am broke this month
Not a fan of those turn base browser type online games , I want to play a game not do an action then have to come back 6 hours later lol

Detailed classes and stats make me happy ...No idea why i am such a stat whore but i always love games that let me set my own starting stats or level skills though usage so on..

Preemptive strike on some suggestions
LOL: i have and played some ...just seems kinda hard to get into with all the items and stuff ...Random heros every week means i cant play someone i like all the time
Cursed soup: didnt like this RL ..the UI rubbed me the wrong way ...Butcher corpse .......Ok ..now i need to pick what to butcher it with...really?... now i need to get some parchment and write and essay about the history of what i am killing..lol
nethack: never played because i dont like games that are hard for the sake of being hard , instant death traps and unwinnable fights with out warning even in the start?...meh.
Dwarf fortress: My job add wont let me play this for long , I hate the constant influx of new dwarfs screwing up my perfect little fortress.. Fun game i just cant seem to play it long with out wanting to start something new someplace better ..lol

Try Gearhead 2 if you like COQ. Similar interface (if you're playing the ASCII version that is) but more future oriented. You can fly your mech and do mech combat or personal combat or other stuff. Plus lots of customization and "classes" with lots of skills you can level up by buying with EXP.

Not to be a butt, but

That's the Free Game List that various B12ers have been compiling. Everything on it is legitmately free to play, and all of it has been recommended by someone on the forum. That makes it nicer then other lists, IMHO, since I've noticed that B12ers tend to have the same general tastes in quality and form.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

I like playing Tales of Maj'Eyal, a great modern roguelike.

Great graphics, many unlockables, many achievements, many classes and races and many stats.
Current in beta, but already polished and very enjoyable.

Dungeons and Dragons online is a free to play MMO (with optional micro transaction and subscriber stuff). I've played through the first few dungeons and found it to be pretty fun.

To be fair, you can ignore 90% of the items and the metagame stuff really doesnt matter at the start. And you really should be able to find someone fun every week, they dont mostly play all that different.

Good free games:
Notrium
Alien Swarm
Battleships Forever (mostly just for making ships)
Toribash
And you can play Lead and Gold on steam for free this weekend.

Rogue survivor is a great free game.  Head to newgrounds for more free flash games than you can poke a stick at.  If you are willing to drift away from free, Arcanum, Silent Storm, Jagged alliance and the fallout series can all be found in bargain bins for about stuff all if you poke about a bit, all rock.  Oblivion is also damn cheap and can be found in nearly all game stores, easy 100+ game hours with mods.
I payed $10 for Team Fortress 2 and ive sunk over 1000 hours into it.  Has to be one of the best online shooters out there.  Also has brilliant support classes.

Other great thing if you dont like paying too much for games is steam, can be a bit of a pia, but is the cheapest way to get games short of downloading them.  I got mount and blade warband for about 2 bucks. fairly hard to go wrong.

Also any big name game that is halfway moddable will have heaps of great stuff lurking just a google away

What is this cursed soup game?  Google only turned up wikis for what appeared to be final fantasy games.

If not under Neotemplar look for Vellum.
