Axes. Why? BECAUSE CHOPPY CHOP CHOOPPPPP. Also in my eyes slashing weapons have more finesse.

I use axes in game.


When I am LARPing, I prefer a giant hammer over giant axe. Just for coolness factor. And cuz my hammer has "your face goes here" written on the head.

I like Hammers, best against armored opponents, which are the only things that survive traps anyways.

Hammers are great, but nothing says "I'm f*****g insane" like an axe and a loincloth. I should totally make my next military do this.

1/4 hammers, 1/4 axes, 1/4 spears, 1/4 crossbows  arranged in 4 man squads all using the same weapons,   but they're just there to buy me enough time to let my !!SCIENCE!! do the real work.

I prefer hammers because the vast majority of my army, should I have one, is Marksdwarves and somewhere sequestered in the bowels of the trade district is a bone carver cranking out *Bone Bolt* stacks. Armor obviously makes them less useful, so I just call out the hammerdwarves to save the day if all else fails.

I read this as:

one hammer ...
one axe ...
and one speeeeaarr!

(Sorry, i can't remember the name of the song ... horrible with names, I am.)

Myself, I use spears ... with some hammer backup.  I like the pokey-stabby-choppy-ness of spears, but hammers work VERY well against armored opponents, as they are supposed to.  (link to random meat-space war hammer)

My current fort is using spears.

However, I love the look of goblin-n-elf salsa, so my vote goes for axes.
