Beath of Flams
« on: March 25, 2011, 08:24:42 pm »

Hey, I had this game Beath of Flams a few years back, in the PS1 era, and I really loved it.  It's pretty much impossible to find these days, I don't think anyone ripped a rom of it and the disks were so badly made that I bet every single one of them have fallen apart by now, but you guys might really appreciate reading the FAQ and walkthrough.  It's the most epic RPG that was never made.

What sort of madman takes the time to put something like this together?  It's huge.

I also wonder how much was made up wholecloth and how much is based on actual game events (presumably Breath of Fire 3).

Every once in a while, I'm tempted to take a stab at implementing this game.  Then I slap myself because, god, why would I do that?

It is...  So beautiful.  Yet such a waste of time.

The main hero's name is Dullard?

Crap. I feel like this is some sort of impetus from the universe to get me to code this... thing.

Oh man, this is great. He did a pretty good job of making the games he's referencing fairly obvious too, so as I'm reading it's like, "Oooh, Breath of Fire! FF7! Xenogears!"

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

Why is this fake game getting more attention then the game it is based on?

I just heard that some indie devs are really making this game, they already have some gameplay footage

Doesn't it just look amazing, can't wait for release.
