Fallout Shelter Experiment: Second Round.
« on: March 24, 2011, 08:18:14 pm »

Here is the idea.

You know the vaults from Fallout? If you don't, then they were fallout shelters who were secretly social experiments. And you get to control a vague rip-off of them!

Basically, you are a computer of a Fallout Shelter housing 10 people, and you have one goal: Drive everyone to madness. You post on this very thread what to do to the person or persons to drive them closer to the brink of insanity.

Rules:

1: Every turn a ration of food is consumed. Once the food stock runs out, you lose the game and have to try again. Try to drive people mad quickly.
2: Feel free to check up on info from your databanks. I will be happy to write up some fluff. This doesn't count as an action.
3: You can do specific actions to people (Do more damage, only hurts one person though.) or you can do mass actions (Small amount of damage, hurts all.) Warning: You can only do one action per turn.
4: Be creative. Madness ain't predictable honey.
5: You can do anything. You control the vertical and the horizontal. You can control what goes on the Public Announcement Speakers, the computers of the survivors, you can move stuff around, you can even create almost perfect illusions. And the best thing is, the door is always shut. The survivors aren't going anywhere.
6: Non-serious suggestions will be taken in a joking manner. Anything relating to the cake and it's status will be ignored. That joke should have died along with the short lived Cancer-Man meme.

You are SurvivalCom Helper Computer 192. The end has come and gone, and the shelters have all closed their steel doors. You have begun your mission. 10 subjects still sane.

Check on the status and bio of all vault members. Be sure to pay attention to any psychological issues or childhood traumas they might have.

As it turned out, they are all stoners.

-5 to collective sanity.

For the next turn, you turn off all the lights.

As it also turned out, they had really nasty parents. -4 to sanity.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

They are all basically fine apart from a non-fear of the dark. The only notable one is Jacob, who is afraid of spiders. Hmm.

Put Hallucinogenics in their food then randomly rub shelter components together in the most eerie way possible.

Have Jacob's hair itch incessantly, along with, say, his eyes. Plant spider eggs behind his eyelids and in the roots of his hair when he's asleep, just deep enough that they won't fall out when scratched.

After a while, his hair and eyes will hatch hordes of small black spiders, along with blood.

You send a hologram of a swarm of spiders to his bedroom while he is sleeping.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

And he then became a gibbering crying wreck. Not for long though. He now just shakes and looks like he has had a long, spider filled night.

You then plant spider eggs in his eyes and hair. When it hatches, he goes so completely bonkers is literally unsane. He is the EXACT opposite of sane. He not only isn't sane, his soul has become consumed by madness.

-79 to sanity.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

You do that, and everyone is a little bit creeped out.
-15 to collective sanity.

Deposit fake bodies and blood into Janet's room while she's sleeping. Also, feed her yet more hallucinogenics.

I think that 15% is a little too much for "creeped out". 15% shared amongst 10 (so 1.5%) would be better, and you might as well have smaller sanity changes all around.
That way, each round'll last longer and we'll have to try harder.

Pick one person and make as many continuity errors as possible, with as jarring a transition as possible between them. If the person is at the doctor's for example, make the doctor suddenly jerk and bring a scalpel to the person's throat, then cut it short and have the doctor pretend like it never happened.
