"Easy mode" is of course all relative in DF, death comes easily to everyone. :D

Generally everything will be going well until you get ambushed and some goblin archer or lasher gets in a sneaky back attack, chipping a bone and making you pass out. Megabeasts sometimes get in a good hit too, that usually fks up a character pretty bad.

Well, easy mode in as much as there is an easy mode. I mean it's easier than starting out as a peasant throwing rocks.

you guys realise that you can recruit soldiers from forts 100% of the time, right?  :)

Is there a way to give equipment to your companions?  I'd love to toss them a few pieces of armor.

Provided you start in a location you can get to a fort without the bogeymen getting you.

Is there a way to give equipment to your companions?  I'd love to toss them a few pieces of armor.

Unfortunately no, not at this time.
