This is more of an experiment than anything, but if it works, cool.
Earlier, I found out that you can create multiple sheets in a single Google Docs Excel (the spreadsheet thing)document, and can lock them individually. Also, the gridlines are removable so that it can look like a map, but nicely gridded with no effort, and the cells can be filled with color using the tool next to the text color picker. So, A game idea was had.
You are a color-coded group of Excelerons, in a small Tier 1 Base in center of The Grid. The other groups are as hungry for space as you are, but no better equipped. This could only end in one way.
WAR.MapName of Excelerons:
Color Chosen:
Base (first come first serve, more may be added later if we get more than 4 peoples): Northeast / Northwest / Southeast / Southwest.
Base Buidings Started with (Limit 4. specify locations (ex NE corner spot, top slot, etc):
Optional Bio:
1. You can play around and experiment all you want on the What If... sheet, but actual gameplay will be on the editlocked only to me Official Sheet. Extra Sheet is for whatever. Strategies, totally not-secret plans, etc.
2. Any non-base buildings (except walls) can be used to claim land and thus gain color. Guard towers control their sight range, turrets their tile.
3.You get 10 Color per controlled tile every other turn. Color = Money.
3a. You may build as many buildings in your base tiles as you have color to spend, but can not build more than 20 units per turn per full base. Limit is 5/turn for outposts, unless they have 2 barracks, which would increase it to 10/turn. Only 5 freestanding buildings at most per turn.
3b. If a unit occupies a tile, it is colored until they move off it. These tiles do count as controlled for Color collection purposes.
4. The Deus Ex Mech-ima is for emergencies only, or whatever I deem it being needing. You guys have no control over the Mech and cannot get into the DM Zone.
Tier 1 Base:
1 turn build time for all tier one buildings. That means if you have two tier ones Queued, you will have two buildings in 2 turns. They are fairly weak defensibly, though.
New Base construction cost: 200C empty, 200+ for built up. build time depends on buildings added.
Outpost:250C, or 450C for outpost + 1 turret. Can hold two base buildings, or 1 base Generator and up to four non-base turrets. 1 turn to build, then normal building build times apply.
Barracks(200C): Draws in data from the Internet to create your colored soldiers. No limit to how many, but creating too many at a single Barracks will cause color fading and thus decreased power. If destroyed, kills all colorsoldiers of its color within a square of it with an explosion of unrefined data.
Data Refinery(200C): Basic Generator. Takes excess data from Barracks (or directly if no barracks in base) and converts it to power. If destroyed, kills all colorsoldiers of its color within 2 squares with an explosion of !!unrefined data!!.
Mk. I Base Defender(150C): Decent all-around blaster-type thingie. not the best, not the worst, gets the job done. Usually. Minor risk of surroundings-damaging explosion during use, but really, its truely minor and was only mentioned since a damaged reactor is a fire hazard and we wouldn't want to get sued for causing you base to burn down. Not that that has ever happened before of course. Except in the controlled experimentation/QA lab, which is a totally different enviroment from here. So, how many do you need?
- A Rambling Defence Contractor, on the Mk. I Base Defender.
Free-Standing Tier 1:
Lv.1 Wall (50C): Not Explosive, but not really a very good wall. Can be built anywhere Free or your color, but does not give you control of that space, just blocks it for you.
Crappy Guard Tower(75C): A tiny room propped up on a few long-ish sticks of debateable strength. Sight Radius of 2 squares. If area in radius is not controlled by a more stable building like a base, it becomes the tower owner's color until the inevitable collapse of this thing. Not insured in any way.
Mk. I Defender(100 C): You know the base turret of the same name? same thing, but slightly weaker.
Porta-Generator v1(100C, or 50C if bought with a turret): Obvious name, obvious function. Not so obvious potential for explody fire if overly drawn on.
Small Stockpile(free if placed Empty, 100C full): Going long-range? Having a resupply point (besides the Barracks) is a smart idea. Can reload any ammo-limited unit or turret. Refill cost: 1C per ammo, up to 100 for full restock.
Tier 2&3 will be added later, if/when we get there.
Tier 1 Barracks:
Blahs(5C/unit): Basic cannon fodder dudes. 5 move, average armor.
Scouts(10C/unit): Scouts. 20 move, no armor.
Blasters(10C/unit): Need an explosion, or a rocket launchering? We're you're guys. 5 move, average armor, 10 explosives. Reload at Barracks/Stockpile.
Color Bombers(50C/unit): Armed with paintball guns, spraycans, and paint-filled grenades, these guys are the ones you can count on to grab land for you if you don't want to stick a building there. 10 move, low armor.
Each group starts with 1K (C)olor and whatever buildings they listed. More players can join if they want, four was just easy to set up. no more than six, though.
