Sending Stuff Back to the Monarchs

Does it really matter what I send back to them? Mostly, if I send a bunch of armor and weapons back home, does it matter, or are only items at my fortress tracked in detail still? Can I supply my civilization with an excessive number of war hammers and full suits of armor to wage war?

Well I know for example if you send a wood item to the elves, they declare war on you later.

No, the only thing that is really tracked once an item has left the map is value. Elves will leave the map in a huff if you offer them wood, but they don't take the item with them.

Suppose I will just have to wait until I can send my own armies across the world to help my kin slaughter unicorn riding hippies.
