I'm surprised this hasn't been started by anyone else yet, so I figure I'll give it a bash.  This will by my first LP, so be kind

I'm going to take the role of the original Daimyo and direct the general path the campaign from his perspective.  Whether or not the generals follow through with his orders (and how they choose to do so) will be decided by those that claim them in this thread, and the personalities they lay out for those generals.  Generals may be claimed as and when they become controllable.  When claiming a general, you may also set out certain unit or tactical preferences if you so wish.  If and when the starting Daimyo passes away, his successor will take his role and can direct the overall campaign from that point if they so wish.

I've only played as Chosokabe so far and am willing to give any clan a go.  Unfortunately I don't have access to the Hattori.  Info on the clans can be found here.

I'll be playing without battle time limits, and probably on normal difficulty (I got thrashed on hard.)  The aim isn't so much to win, as following the Losing is Fun mantra.

EDIT: And yeah, I totally get a vote too.

Gotta say I'm surprised about the amount of people wanting to go the Christian route.  Should be good for a bit of FUN though

Oh yeah, just to warn you all in advance, my PC isn't exactly top of the range, so don't be expecting the prettiest of screenshots.  Does anyone know if S2 can take screenshots in the same way as M2?  I seem to recall M2 would save an image every time you pressed 'print screen'

Troops come in several different 'levels' and 'types.'

Levels

Ashigaru - Peasants/meat shields.  These are the untrained masses that are the most readily available at the start of a game.
Samurai - Warriors.  These guys are generally heavier armored and far more effective, despite having a smaller unit size compared to ashigaru.  The difference is significant enough that bow samurai can hold their own against melee ashigaru in my experience.
Heroes - The elite.  I've hardly ever gotten to actually use these guys, but they seem a lot more powerful than samurai.

Types

Yari - Spearmen.  Best unit vs cavalry, and better than archers in melee.
Archers - Beat poorly armored targets like yari/no-dachi and cavalry, so long as you can maintain a distance from them.  Samurai archers are significantly better and can beat most ashigaru in melee.
Katana - Pwn yari with ease.  Average melee unit.
Katana Cavalry - Good against everything except yari/yari cavalry.  Best used against archers and katana infantry.
Yari Cavalry - Beats katana cavalry.
Cavalry Archers - I haven't used these guys much, but assume them to be best against melee cavalry/infantry.
No-Dachi - Shock troops.  Low armor, but great charge bonus.  Generally used at that crucial moment.
Naginata - Highest armor in game.  Good for that slow march towards an archer heavy enemy.  Quite versatile units.
Matchlock - I haven't used and have no clue lol
