What is your opinion of Anonymous and their work?

I'm all for them and fully support their work
I support their cause, but dislike the methods used
Unsure / don't really care
I think they're just a bunch of bored kids
I'm against both their methods and cause
I think they're criminals / terrorists

Aklyon, I'm sure it's not that simple. There are probably a few more writes of passage than one goggle search.

Anonymous is a very loose and poorly defined political movement that strains to have any tangible effect on larger society.  They are basically harmless and at their worst they are a minor nuisance for the establishment.

Essentially, a buch of bored kids trolling and hackers trolling easily trolled organizations. With some moralizing on top to try and give themselves an excuse.

They seem like internet trolls that ahve expanded to include the real world in their antics as well. They do it all for the lulz.

The great thing about Anonymous is not what its "members" do. It is the reactions their IRL targets have to their ridiculous shenanigans and trolling. A large portion of the time, they troll people who probably don't know what "troll" means and therefore get them forever shamed over the internet.

What kind of laugh is that? you had a G in it.
If you ask me, he got tired, and started to wheeze a bit.

Some stuff is funny or interesting, but if it became anything like the last part of the V for Vendetta movie, then I'm going to get scared.

Since I try to avoid being a massive jerk and am in no way associated with sciencefictology, I really don't give two craps. Although, I must say, sometimes I agree with the goals, sometimes even the methods if they aren't particularly devastating (rickrolling Scientology, for example).

That's a pretty exaggerative claim.
Not really. Anonymous is not limited to /i/. Anonymous is even not limited to 4chan/7chan.
I don't have any hard numbers on US (4chan/7chan) or EU (krautchan, national chans) anonymous communities, but I do have some numbers on ex-USSR chans, and I can assure you that there are at least 100000 of those who visit chans at least once per month, and US/EU communities are much bigger. Just most of us don't participate in /i/ activity and even dont care about it at all.

Do you have any sort of source for this?

So then. Assuming one can be 'part' of such a thing. And assuming you can define it as something other then stupid activities taken by people on the internet. How does that make you part of 'it?'

Edit: Basically my question is does this mean you are considering everyone who has ever visited such a site part of 'it?'

Cause if so then yeah...

You can laugh with a 'G'. Although it really becomes more of a cackle.

What? Topic? Oh, ok then! I think they are a bunch of zealots. Most of the people involved in the activitys attributed to 'anonymous' are from a few who were bored or pissed off at something, and rallied a large group of people through this mass communication device known as the inter webbing. Then these crazy zealots who fight for the glory of anon, rather then any cause, take things too far. Rinse and repeat.

If you criticise anonymous publicly enough, they will attack you for 'provoking them', yet they say they fight for freedom of speech! They are no better then a religious man who thinks those who don't like he's faith should be put to death.

What? As I said before, Anonymous is not limited to this /i/ b-shit. Most of anonymous are *channers who don't care about this activism/raids at all, and this *chan population was 'Anonymous' long before /i/ began to exist.

People claiming to be anonymous have done things I agree with. People claiming to be anonymous have done things I disagree with. It's hard to judge them on the whole because it's not clear who anonymous really is. Anyone can claim it, anyone can refute it. Anonymous v anonymous isn't unheard of after all. I can say one thing: They have caused people to write articles well worth reading.
