Challenge!

I've been reading Irregular Webcomic.

Read this strip's annotation's bottom line.

Sounds like a challenge!

[GreatWyrmGold] gets a little crown. May it forever be his mark of Cain; let no one argue pointless subjects with him lest they receive the same.

I assume you mean "It's hard raising tuna in an underground mine" huh?

I will require one ocean!

Actually nah.  Sphalerite has trumped us all with his breeding of sea serpents.  Plus I've got other DF-related plans, like my Fortress of Horrors and the random creature program.

And who knows. Perhaps the sea serpents really are rich in vitamin D. Tuna don't have any pet tag though, so they won't breed in vanilla.

Breed in captivity? No. Breed in a carved out underground ocean? Probably.

If your dwarves are short in vitamin C you can also breed narwhal in your underground ocean!

Any creature that doesn't have the [PET] tag, will never breed.  Tame or untame, a wild untame-able animal cannot breed.  You can easily [PET] them, but never tame them, so it only allows them to breed.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

Only if captured.  Normal wildlife doesn't stay around long enough, they appear on the map, and they may or may not spore, but they leave before giving birth.  Only when artificially restrained will they stay long enough to give birth.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

And then make them [TRAINABLE], flood the world with water, and enjoy as your contigent of war carp tears the goblin ambush to shreds.

Now are sea creatures even trainable at a kennel ? Maybe an underwater kennel...

Not really, because buildings under water don't function, and they would have to be for carp.  Unless they're amphibious...
