I think with this list of bug fixes I'm looking forward to this release more than any other since DF2010 came out.  It'll be awesome to be able to play some of the new features (like the hospital) as they were intended without having to remember this long list of gotchas and workaround for the bugs.  Pretty excited about the stockpile fixes/improvements, too.  Hooray for ToadyOne!

I'm more excited about the fact that I will no longer have to arrange accidents for every dwarf who receives a serious leg injury.
Also wonder if the dungeon master will make a return.

As for ghosts I suppose I can now leave the more stupid dwarves, who wall themselves up, to starve to death for added fort character.

Yeah, with these fixes, the reappearance of the DM is probably the one thing I want fixed more than anything.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Start your fort with everyone happy and begin engraving around the entrance right away, keep engraving deeper and deeper in as the lives of your dwarves (especially the engravers) gets more and more miserable,  make any dwarf who drops below content into an engraver and have them engrave even deeper into the fortress, and save the lower levels untill most of your fort is insane with grief.

Why couldn't my vampire Hammerer eat someone useless, like a migrant? Instead, she went after my only gemcutter.. but sadly there were no witnesses, so I convicted someone's pet duck as the murderer.  It got off easy, with no beatings or jail time.  >.<

I'll probably do something like that, except use some hax to get all my engravers to a certain level.  Lame engravings don't give an image, only "engraved wall".  So, get them trained up to a good level and then let them engrave.  Also, I'm much more likely to use statues, as these can be controlled more and always give an image.  I'll be doing some experiments with mood and engravings soon enough, until I can get chaotic engravings down to an art form.

It could be helpful to experiment with the art tokens of the entity for this. My current fortress has over 50 casualties, mostly from goblins and forgotten beasts but the favourite picture of my engravers is still some random human breaking the toe of an elf 200 years ago.

There's not a whole lot of options there.  You can't tell your civ "only engrave magma-related deaths".  But, you can do OWN_CIV and CREATURE, which will help add less trees and squares and stuff.

That explains why my attempts back in 40d to improve engravings failed, I always messed around with the spheres. Hopefully this will get me some pictures of my champions smiting gobbos.

Edit: After firing up legends it looks like my engravers had a reason to engrave this human over and over. 656 kills total with at least 300 elves among them.

A short history will help as well.  I'm planning this "Horror fort" to be 2 years of worldgen.

Oh sweet jesus. I'm so excited for this batch of bugfixes. Fixed hospital, as well as a bunch of other things. Hopefully we get the DM back, I never got to experience the coolness of taming almost any creature.

Woots! Hoping it will be tomorrow before my course load picks back up x)

Will be glad to be rid of the ghost lag for sure.  I'm currently at 9 fps trying to slowly coax my dorfs to finish the damned slabs already.

Actually, my ultimate goal is to make a very dark, haunted fortress for an adventurer to explore, brimming with statues of death and ghosts, and littered with chaos and disarray.  What was the movie?  Event Horizon.

Argh Event Horizon!

Must add a crashed ship to your landscape then! made of admantite central spar and or magma core! with Chained Dwarves! and repeating Spikes! And ........ Oh, thats,O_O ..... ow.....my head..... therapy....

Has this ever been true? I've never gotten a generic "engraved wall" in my life.

Seems I mis-read it then.

Engravings made with a quality of well-crafted and higher will usually be in reference to previous events.

So, any engraving will be something, but -Engraving- or better is usually an event, as opposed to lame shapes and waves.
