Serious discussion
« on: March 21, 2011, 07:08:53 am »

Does anyone else find themselves making a menacing triangle with their hands while creating their fortress?

I mean, I can't help it. It's like i'm plotting my evil plans, or something.

In case you don't know what I mean by "Menacing Triangle":

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

I tend to do the Gendo hand thing:

Sadly, my glasses probably don't glare quite as menacingly.

Hey, good idea ! I would rather do the Xanatos Pose personally

Most of us are villains anyway, it's time we identify ourselves as them and take on some clichés.

I prefer to stroke my goatee and/or pet my cat while planning my fortress.

Then I pretend to use an intercom and ask to see Urist McPeasant in the drowning chamber. I may be a little weird.

Pet cat here too, she watches the dwarves fall to their deaths in the pit.

I put my left thumb and index finger on the chin while the right hand holds the mouse, then I look up like I'm pondering.

When I'm calculating, I look down kinda like The Thinker, with my elbow supported by the desk.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.

Simpsons already did everything, so you disregard whether the simpsons did it or not.

Either that or do a variation on the Gendo/Xanatos pose but with my chin resting on my fingers. >:D DF brings out my vicious side.

Lielac likes adamantine, magnetite, marble, the color olive green, battle axes, cats for their aloofness, dragons for their terrible majesty, women for their beauty, and the Oxford comma for its disambiguating properties. When possible, she prefers to consume pear cider and nectarines. She absolutely detests kobolds.

I'm always in some variation of the Thinker pose, because my right hand never leaves my mouse/numberpad.

or maybe throw them into the large hadron collider to atom-smash them instead.
Not to mention to throw all available animals into tiny pits.

I'm not so much for the gestures, but I'll certainly announce things to my dwarves, such as "Good news everyone! I've discovered a way to [fill in the blank with something that will invariably wind up catastrophic.]"

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.
I just hope he dies the same death that all dwarfs deserve: liver disease.

I pet my cats, but that's because if I don't pet them then they will walk on the keyboard.   :D
