Who... Is paying for the poster? I mean in order to introduce a new voting system, surly the current government must be behind it, so what other organised power has motive to want the current system?

12 seats?  I'd like to hear your figures, considering the BNP were roundly trashed to hell in the 2010 election, losing almost all of their councillors and dropping behind in basically every MP election they contested.
The BNP got 564,331 votes, which was 1.9% of all the votes cast in the election.
UKIP got 919,546 votes, which was 3.1% of all the votes cast in the election.
There are 650 seats.
1.9%*650=12.35
3.1%*650=20.15

i actually expect far right parties to loose out under AV. As many moderate people will vote against them. If you get 5 ranked votes how many people will put the BNP 2nd or 3rd? Their supporters will put them first, but i suspect many others will put them 5th to tactically vote against them.

UKIP might do well out of AV though, as might greens, theres quite alot of people that are ok with these parties but wouldnt normally 'waste' their vote on them.

...Wait. 2012...
I just realised. This "End of the world"...
It's the London 2012 Olympics.
It will be that bad.

This made me ROTFL. Maybe the trigger will be an international war caused by the crime against humanity of forcing other countries' athletes to eat English food.  :P

It's funny because that's exactly what will happen.

Alternatively, people will get a little overexcited about soccer. (seriously, why is not-America so obsessed with that game?)

AV=/=PR.  I'm pretty sure they'd still get exactly 0 seats under AV.  AV tends to favour moderate parties who people would put as their second choice.

Not even a close comparison. You don't see gangs of "NFL hooligans". Well, other than maybe in Philadelphia and Cleveland, but that has more to do with those cities than the sport itself. People do some crazy shit in the name of soccer. Like go to war.

I think we can all agree, that Football, whatever game that name refers to at any given time, warps peoples minds.

Hockey, now there's a sport that never causes riots or problems like that*. Plus, the fanatical devotion tends to be pretty kind spirited too. AND hockey** is really a better sport than anything with a ball.

*Except that one time Montreal rioted after they won the Stanley Cup
**Not included the shutout

I don't know, our Boston guys were getting death threats and there was talk in Candian places about going on strike to protest things and shut down the sport until the rules were changed or the guy was banned or something after he checked one of those Canadian guys. I wasn't following the details.

No argument there. I'd be far more willing to paint my body team colors for hockey than I would football. Especially since my football team went 2-14 last season, while my hockey team is still clinging to the hope of a playoff spot.

And that's why Britain can't have alternative voting systems.

We need to get the English some better sports. Totally help their political system.

I mean, look at cricket rules, no wonder the voting system is kinda screwy!
