couldn't kill a kitten
« on: March 20, 2011, 08:38:45 pm »

I just can't do it. They are just so small and helpless and cute and... AWW! Who's my fuzzy little kitty? You are!

I know atrocities in the name of !!SCIENCE!! and Fun! are normal in the world of DF, but is there something you refuse to do in the game?

I refuse to dump prisoners into magma. I'd rather they have an honest chance, so I pit them into an arena where they fight my soldiers.

Sounds like someone has a case of CWS.

IRL, I love cats. The way I manage cats is I allow most to stay alive, but limit the population to only a single female, to keep the catsplosion curbed.

You'll have to provide warm, moist kittens at the end of each test chamber.

I don't use wooden axes to cut down trees. I also don't kill dwarves deliberately, and try to avoid putting them in excessively dangerous situations. No charges over open ground when facing ranged attackers, that sort of thing.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I don't murder fellow dwarves. Everyone (and everything) else is fair game.

I don't do any drowning traps of any kind. Though this can also be attributed to my general laziness with wanting to make elaborate trap systems. I just have a wall, bridge, a couple weapon traps, a bunch of cage traps and a courtyard to right to the death in.

I haven't murdered any elven caravans yet.

CWS? Please tell me that that stands for Cat Wuv Syndwome.

I like my little kitties too, but when the ol' FPS gets pinched, I do have to say "enough" and start killing any new little purr units. I almost never euthanize my dwarves, even those that will never walk again. Sure they eat and drink, but I've got enough food and water to last ages. I like to think that crippled dwarves become storytellers or caregivers for the filthy nude dwarflings running around, even though nothing in the game suggests that they do.

I've yet to give a noble a personal magma spa. I have a setup that allows me to effortlessly dump animals into a sacrificial well (and I use it liberally, all in defense of FPS), but I can't bring myself to make a dwarf create an accident.

All animals not being presently, or in the near future, utilized, get sold to the traders pronto as pets. The babies are their problem then.

Should you fail to comply, strict !!disciplinary actions!! will be taken. Also, we feel we should remind you that one of the "criminals" on your list is the chief medical dwarf. If he ends up too badly injured to do his job, you will be fired. Out of a magma cannon.
Sincerely,
The Administration
