Incidentally, how do you guys feel about my portrayal of Death? Too much? Too cliche?

Death is supposed to be cliche, is it not?
Now he just needs a way to directly link the power of souls to his pool of acts...
That is pretty much my plan, linking my power to the souls of the dead rather than the worship of the living. Death has very little interest in the living world, and sees it as more of a temporary state before the eternity of the afterlife.

and get skeletal figures who wear hooded capes, wield long scythes, and have the power to instantly kill any (non-acted upon by another god) mortal.
Hm... -scribble-

Edit: Also, has nobody realized that I am essentially creating The Matrix? Artificial world for people to experience while they are used as a power source? Herp derp! I just thought of that today.

Death is the matrix.

Death is Dwarf Fortress.

DEATH FORTRESS
Death Fortress=Dwarf Fortress.

Actually that would be a interesting mythos if Death created the Dwarves to shepard the people into the afterlife.

Chlorine calls the Elves. Cannibals we are and shall remain.

DEATH FORTRESS

You start out as a lowly Psychopomp, able to pass between the grey abyss and the mortal plane at will (but at a cost of energy!).  To begin with all you can do is collect souls still clinging to their dying forms, striding through the semi-real world of the living and stuffing them into your bag, then shifting back to the netherworld and laying them to rest.

But the trick is that laying them to rest is not easy.  In the Grey World you have to make little niches to place them in, to keep them safe whilst they slowly decay and return to the Everlasting.  Later, you can create ways of decaying them faster to save space, and in any case you must protect them lest the infernal inhabitants of the Grey World come a-raiding to steal those juicy souls and rob you of the energy you gain when they decay.

As the game progresses you find yourself competing with other Psychopomps, or able able to attract/create/suborn lesser 'pomps into doing the main work of collecting souls for you.  You create artefacts in the Grey World (or the living!) to summon souls without your direct intervention and you even may find yourself creating armies of the dead to defend against the demons who come to raid you, the beasts who would assault...  Death's Fortress.

I'd love to. Funding is the issue. :)

I've been working on securing some kind of funding source for a while.

Fair point.  What sort of resources does one need to start on a project like that, anyhow?

Payroll is the biggest expense. Also we should probably stop cluttering this thread. ^.^

I'm about to get some sleep, but PM me and we can talk it over.

Karne only plays crazy characters.

...I think he's trying to tell us something.

To be fair, he was a much better God of Madness than me in Godhood I. Madness was more like a minor sphere for me in that.

I have a strong distaste for the preposterously mad.
I mean- I'm mad, but do I act like that?! No!

Conclusion: He's ruining my image.
