I hope you don't mind but.....

I killed Neyi, Pukematch, the Hydra


Nice, very nice, I was ASSIGNED to kill a cave dragon by the lord of some fortress, never ended up doing it. By the way, If nobody manages to kill him soon (Weaklings  :P) I'm going to do a little overhaul of the game, possibly with a new save (When I tried to generate a world to my liking in 31.21 DF crashed when It got to the history, 31.18 was the first one that I tried before that, but I might try again on 31.19)

EDIT: Wait a minute, how in the world did you end up with those FIFTEEN bogeyman kills! I can't even get 1!

Well, the poisons of prolifering consider me a hero. I havent been able to find him, but come on, I took down the god of the land. How hard can the chameleon monster be?

I was thinking of looking for the titan as well, the other god power in that world.

EDIT: Easy, I just stab them with my spear a few times. I am also legendary +9 fighter, High master shield user.  I havent worn armor the entire game till I got a breastplate from the hydra.

Anyway, is there ANY town with a shop in this world? All this crap I am carrying is heavy!

Memoirs of a killer, excerpt.

...and that's how I killed the Hydra, which fell after I cut off the last of its head with my scimitar.

Now, dear ready, it is time to tell you of the hardest hunt in my long and bloody career. A hunt that took years of my time, and considerable investments of the treasures I had gathered before. The target was none other than the famous Osnong Pukecouple, a forgotten beast which had attained leadership in the goblin lands far to the southwest. Its hunger for flesh was legendary, and its appetite known to favor dwarves. Overall, more than a thousand kills were attributed to the monster, and the human decided it was time to stop. Dwarves had suffered severe losses by the hands of the beast, and its lair was in the way of future expansions, with lands rich in minerals and ore in the jungle surrounding it.

I started my hunt as I usually do, by interrogating the locals. The humans in the southwest had little to say about the mark, so I ventured near its lair, in the hope of catching a goblin who had heard of my deeds. If you remember, I had killed many a night creature in the surrounding areas, which resulted in the goblins being both grateful and friendly. I found one member of the Poisons of Proliferating rather easily in the jungle, and he was all to happy to give me the information I needed.


His words came with a warning : the beast is in hiding and the dark fortress invisible to human eyes. I would have trouble finding the settlement, and he couldn't help me get there, for the penalty for such an act would be a most horrible death. After many sleepless nights fleeing the bogeymen and taking refuge in troll lairs, I finally reached the area the goblin had marked on my map.


As I excepted, the fortress was nowhere to be found. All around, a lush forest could be seen, but no trace of a settlement, of activity, of anyone actually living here. Either the beasts uses foul magic or its lair is somewhere else.


After getting back to the village, I asked more peasants about the mysterious fortress. They themselves had never seen it, but its presence was no lie. Armies were seen retreating in the jungle. None dared to follow in the tread of the mighty goblin forces that had assembled, but the location of a major settlement, housing the master of the Poison of Proliferating, Osnong himself, was a certainty.

This would be a serious setback in my plans. Still, rumors of the beast's fondness of dwarven meat had reached my ears, and it was time to set up a bait.

I contacted the nearby dwarven government and managed to procure seven lost souls, whose task would be to build a wealthy fortress right under the chameleon's nose. I also took of his hopes of finding my goblin contact again, I would need his help when the time to strike comes, as it's unlikely the monster will travel alone.



And build they did, but they took their time. After five years of constant labor, crafting gold crafts, giving away lots of wealth to merchants, and repelling a few small attack parties, the dwarves had finally gathered the attention of the beast itself. With vast promises of riches and power, I had managed to secure the loyalty of the attacking goblins that had come with Osnong, and took off with my best gear to the dwarven settlement. News of the attacks were but a day old, but if previous history can be trusted, all dwarves will be dead when I arrive.


When I arrived, I immediately gathered the goblins I could find. They had remembered my offers, and would be happy to get rid of their monstruous leader. They joined me with haste, but warned me that any false movement could make them turn on me. I had to tread carefully and be wary of getting to close to them. After little exploration, I finally had the beast within my sight, and the battle was finally about to begin.


The beast's resilience was the stuff of legends, and my trusty scimitar that had cut off so many head was of no use, glancing away on the chameleon's hide. I resorted to using my spear, a weapon I was barely competent in, but that could strike deeper and heavier blows than the small sword ever could. Alas, my low prowess with the weapon cost me dearly.


Gathering the spear in my remaining hand, I and the goblins kept pressuring Osnong, who stumbled and fell down a nearby pond after many unsuccessful pushes. Now with higher grounds, striking at it was easier, but ever so dangerous. My comrades were falling left and right, succumbing to the monster's mighty strength and deadly sting. Still, as I kept trying to stab at easiest areas, my skill with the spear was obviously going up. I could now land blows rather squarely, and as Osnong was distracted grappling a maceman, I saw my chances. I struck at its head and damaged the beast's spine, which made it fall over and lose hold of many of its trinkets.


But the fight was still far from over. I stabbed and stabbed and stabbed, hitting any accessible area with my longer reach, and striking at the head whenever I could. I missed often, facing dangerous retaliation from the downed beast. In the rare occassions I stroke true, the blows were not strong enough to pierce through the skull. My fellow goblins had exhausted their quivers, and all macemen were now heavily wounded. I remember the conflicting feelings my body sent me, on the verge of collapse from blood loss but also unwilling to let go before it is over. And I kept stabbing.


Night was starting to fall when I finally had the perfect opportunity. I had now grown very confortable with the use of a spear in one hand, and managed to deal a blow strong enough to pierce the skull and reach the brain. Osnong Pukecouple was down, its body lying out of reach in the pond we drove him in.


The battle had both taught and cost me a lot. I was now very good at the spear, but I had lost an arm, my sword arm.


I would eventually recover, and Osnong would become just another kill in the long list of dead that came after him.




It is very dangerous. I started as a demigod with grand master shield using, got up to legendary +1 through various kills, was heavily armored and it cut off my arm like nothing. I had to savescum a couple of time to finally get it.

I also had to make a quick fortress to make it show up. I just abandoned when it led the attack (third siege).

Making a fortress to bait your target? Heh...

Though I got no real injury against the hydra, and wasn't wearing armor aside from boots, gauntlets, and a helm.
I was also alone.

Granted, I am missing two toes, but that's all.

Anyway, good work.

I was planning on going after the titan next.

Very, VERY nice kzel. You did a great job with the short story and abundance of screenshots. Making a small fortress was clever, and I like clever. However, you forgot to designate a creature from legends mode for the next target.

How about an easier to find target ? Here's a minotaur that somehow escaped Sestah's killing spree.


No idea where she is, but probably nowhere near the human settlements. I visited almost every lair to provide safe retreats from bogeymen.

Something I don't like about this save is that it lets you attack friendlies, even if you don't want to.

I keep hitting my allies with just normal movement, it is making it too hard to continue.

Unless we play a later version, where it is not as bad.

Guess its time to hunt some bulls eh? Im in for this one aswell. And seeing the strength of spears... bwaha.

Really? I'm not getting any of these problems on my save. if I accidently (A)im for one I'll get asked if I really want to. I'll try downloading the save and see if your right

Weapon choice really comes down to what you want to do. I like spears cause it gives a good balance of killing power and defence, but don't expect to sent limbs flying. You need to aim true each hit.

The hydra was easier then I expected. Having high skill helped of course. What I did was before getting to its cave, I slipped off my backpack and left it outside. I was carrying a lot of junk. So the only thing I took with me was my spear, gauntlets, helmet, boots, and shield.

I started by poking it in the foot. Even though it had seven heads, I ignored those. It only has four legs, so I poked it in the left foot, then the right foot, toppling it over. That done, Instead of it having two or three attacks to my one, I had four attacks to its one. After that, I poked it over and over in the chest till it stopped moving. It didn't hit me, not once.

What is this I don't even...

The oaken bolt strikes you in the head, jamming the skull into the brain!
You fall un-concious.
The bolt becomes lodged in the wound!
You have been shot and killed.

If it's a smaller or pocket world sure you can. But we'll have to wait to use it until something from it's chosen as a target.
