Once upon a time, late summer in 2009 i guess, i was at my fathers work, with him, Siemens.
He told me that i could run out in their little depot/W/E. and find working PC's/Servers, i found two, and alot of hardware(it was from 2003 or so, old so no gaming here, my friend
), i tried to stuff the best i could find in, two crappy cards, i did not know it supported different kinds of RAM cards, i could proably have it on 512 MB if i knew, now. I decided to give it a nickname, Pingo, because one of my first thought was "hey lets install linux on it wee", and then Pingo was born. At the end of the day my father came in, and he saw one of the servers i found, not Pingo, the other, nameless one wich i couldnt access due to not knowing the password. He said we could keep em, then we went home, for a long time it just stood there, unplugged, but then my father threw some cables at me, wich i used with the computer, now it worked completely fine, i plugged it into my TV's RBG and began tapping off(no not that way). Since then, i have had it on at random, i used it as a Return to Blockland/The orange block (free standalone mod of Blockland) server at a LAN party i hosted once.. i even tried to run a Minecraft server on it, but its too slow. Now i am here, just figured out how to do a Remote Desktop Connection, hopped on, now i dont have to switch input all the time when playing with it. Enough with the story, now spec, and questions.
Specifications:
Windows Server 2003
398 Mhz Pentium II
384 MB ram (my father found some chips, its a improvement from 200 something.. )
Uhh.. nothing much else.
First, what would be a good Linux for this server?
Then, what could i use it for, wich has nothing to do with anything outside my local network(no game servers, web servers etc.)
I already know what i could use it for if it had linux, linux nerdyness, i just love sitting there, looking important, while just doing some VIM while playing Nethack or something..
