Amnesia: The Dark Descent seems to give me a black screen upon loading a game, but the crosshair, sound effects, journal and such show fine. Drivers updated, tweaked the settings to everything I could think of. Patched it too.

Medieval 2: Total War fails to start. I get the launcher screen, but when I click 'play' it fills part of my screen with black and throws up a 'M2:TW.exe has stopped working, windows is looking for a solution' popup. One time it actually started; this was immediately after I first uninstalled and reinstalled it. Later un-and re-installs have yielded no such success. Playing through Steam, not sure which version it is (tried downloading 1.3, but it didn't work, presumably because it wasn't from Steam)

On a lappy, Windows 7 Home Premium x64, specs are sufficient, blah blah.

I don't want to be a downer or anything, but threads like this really don't work. The questions and answers are going to end up horribly mixed together in a sea of cross-quoting. There's really no need for a communal all-encompassing Q&A thread when it is far more effective for people to Google, post on the game's own forums, or if all else fails, just post their own specific thread.

Don't let me stop you though. Just saying. :)

What if the Google Machine doesn't give anything good? What if the game has no forums? And if they post their own specific thread, that's probably just gonna pollute this forum.

Google can't pick up specific threads? Also, we've been doing fine so far... Plus, searching for answers will be much easier if the results don't point you to the middle of a 300-page megathread.

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

Is there a way to make the ships in GalCiv 2 move instantly? It'd make my turns go a lot faster.

That reminds me, I got Broken Steel for Fallout 3 Ages ago, but it turns out steel wasn't the only thing that was broken.

After I finish the last mission, and after the ending movie, the game immediately crashes.

Oh, and thanks for the hint about Thief 3 and Invisible war, worked great. I am speechless at why on Earth someone would use such a convoluted system like forcing the game to recreate a new process every time it needed to load something.
