Libyan Harpoon UCE quick let's play
« on: March 19, 2011, 05:25:22 pm »

Harpoon- Ultimate Edition is the most powerful and complete modern naval warfare simulation on the market and a must have for any Harpoon fan!

Due to the impending and currently active attacks on Libya, I shall do a quick LP over the next few days using Harpoon. I have yet to decide which scenario, but there are several Libyan ones.

People can join and command a surface fleet, a submarine, a group of planes etc.

Let's hope Ghadaffi is gone soon, and i'm sure they will do better than we will!

I'll get back with the scenario soon....

<HNN> Dateline Sarajevo

Sources confirmed today that the suicide truck bomb that killed 28 and injured more than 100 American soldiers last week was tied to the recent string of terrorist attacks. The attack, said one government official, fit the profile of several Middle Eastern groups and is thought to be funded by several countries hostile to the American presence in the Persian Gulf.

In Paris, the French Foreign Minister was asked if the current attacks against the Americans would cause the French Government to reconsider the U.S. sanctions against Iran and Libya. He said abruptly "No, terrorism is a worldwide problem," and that punishing French and other European companies because America is unpopular in those markets was absurd. He went on to say that "It's time America came down off her high horse and joined the World community as an equal and stop pretending to be the world's Father Figure."

During a United Nations meeting, the U.S. Secretary of State took the podium and issued a terse response to the French Foreign Minister. "Terrorism exists in the world today in its current form because continental powers are timid and unable to respond to the open hostilities of the Arab world. France in particular should be ashamed that it continues to expand its trade with rogue nations such as Iran, Iraq and Libya." The Secretary closed his speech by saying that the United States would seek out and punish those responsible for the attacks against Americans no matter where they live and he warned that any country harboring, protecting, or supporting these fugitives would also feel the weight of American justice.

FROM: COM 6th Fleet

TO:   CTF 73.0 (AAC)

1.0 SITREP: The CIA has developed absolute proof that Iran and Libya were directly involved in the recent terrorist attacks against U.S. Forces. The National Command Authority has authorized operation "Double Jeopardy." Forces attached to the U.S. 7th Fleet in conjunction with TF 73.0 will attack the assigned targets in Iran and Libya. The CIA, in a related report, has uncovered back channel connections between the French Intelligence Services and the Governments of both Iran and Libya. The NCA has decided to act unilaterally in this operation and inform the allies once the strike is underway.

2.0 ORDERS: TF 73.0 (AAC) is relieved of responsibility in the Bosnian theatre of operations and is ordered to make best speed South to a position that would reduce flight times and provide the maximum Search And Rescue options for attacks against Libya.

2.1 Launch coordinated air and TLAM strikes against the chemical plant outside Tripoli (ZXb).

2.2 The Libyan Air Force has upgraded its readiness status in the last two weeks. At least 1 squadron of MiG-23's are operational at Tripoli (ZWa)and must be destroyed prior to the ingress of 2.0.

2.3 In accordance with U.S. sanctions, the President has declared all cargo vessels in port at Bengasi (ZVp) and Tobruk (ZUp) forfeit and has authorized the sinking of those vessels as well as the destruction of the port facilities.

3.0 WEATHER: Meteorological outlook mixed. Current weather situation not expected to affect operations.

4.0 ENEMY SITUATION: The Libyans have upgraded their readiness state in the last two weeks. The Air Force has increased the frequency and duration of its patrols but rarely has more than two MiG-23's airborne at any one time. Currently the Libyan Navy is in port at both Bengali and Tobruk.

5.0 ROE: Warning Level RED: Weapons Free: Engage all Libyan targets.

On the Carrier you have:

2x3 F/A-18's unloaded without weapons
4x3 loaded with AtA missiles
1x3 with precision long range weapons(AGM-84E)
1x3 with anti ship missiles(AGM-84C Harpoons)

Any of these can switch their armaments, we have 20 hours to arrive at the point where we will attack from. It takes 30 minutes to rearm.

They can rearm to:

Precision(AGM-84E SLAM)
ASuW(AGM-84C Harpoons)
Intercept(Sidewinders/AMRAAMS)
SEAD(AGM-88C HARM)
Escort(Same as Int except, Droptanks, less missiles)
Antiarmor(Mavericks)
Decoy?(I have to read about this. Not sure what it does. Its a decoy missile?)

SCOUTING

Just after 9pm on the 22nd Mar(Previous time I gave was wrong), 2 ES-3A Shadows and 4 E-2C Hawkeyes take off from CVN Theodore Roosevelt to recon Libyan defences.

Soon we get a contact:
Fgtr MiG-23ML Flogger G
    from AD01 ES-3A Shadow
at a bearing of 202 degrees

They have been detected :( they turn back to gain distance while 4 F-14's are launched from the Carrier group to intercept.

The MiG's withdrew, the F-14's were low on fuel after using the afterburner to catch up quickly, they returned to base. 8 More Tomcats Launched to escort the recon.

3 MiG's move to engage the scouts, but the Tomcats are just behind....

21:37 The 4 Tomcats land on the carrier again, refueling and rearming.

21:38 The intercepting tomcats fire their missiles at the MiGs, two explode! one is left, closing on the Tomcats....

A Tomcat gets a hit, the last MiG goes down!

However, the Hawkeyes detect 3 more en route. The Tomcats move in to attack.

21:58 The Tomcats fire their missiles, the MiG's all go down without ever getting in range.

22:12 Another 3 are engaged and shotdown out of their own missile range.

22:24 Another 2 kills.

22:37 They detect a Libyan Frigate, at least 3 MiG's are on the airfield of Libya International. No additional SAM's detected.

All planes returning to base.

BUT behind the planes the Carrier group detects incoming MiGs! They could be carrying Anti-Ship missiles so they must be destroyed immediately. The Tomcats turn around and intercept.

After a short dogfight, 3 more downed MiG's. Hurrah!

23:46 All planes landed, all encountered MiG's destroyed.
