... Oh boy... Well, I guess I asked for it, but I'm not going to make much forward progress on merchant princes while I'm doing these...

Bat wings didn't show up so much (too dark, too small)...

Nice you did good on her. And carrying that big stack of books for Patchouli, 1 handed too.

OK, I got a mayor done... but she doesn't wind up looking so much like a mayor.

At least she looks distinct from almost every other naga, however, especially with the fairly pastel hair color.

Up to now, I've been doing darker, saturated colors, since Girlinhat had seemed to prefer that palette.  I'm sort of running out of distinct colors to use within that range, however.  A paler-haired mayor is fairly distinct, though.

... I actually darkened her shirt a few times, because it looked fairly faint, too.  She looked sort of like she was wearing a powder blue sweater, and looked a sort of motherly type.  Now, with the hat, she kind of looks more like she's some sort of scholar than a mayor.  (That's supposed to be a rolled-up scroll she's holding next to her body.)

Couldn't nobles use alternating color bands to distinguish them? That feels like it would provide a rather significant number of additional options.

I like her, and she does have that scholarly look. Then again, the light or pastel purples you used for her hair are some of my favorite colours.

That didn't last long, huh? Shame, cause binary's cool. Anyway, an important message: I will be changing my names on every username based thing I use to ASCIt on/around 10/1. Consolidating, I guess you could say.

Couldn't nobles use alternating color bands to distinguish them? That feels like it would provide a rather significant number of additional options.

The nobles do have color differences to keep them apart, mostly in clothing.

I made many of the administrators have a purple hair and teal clothing combination, however, because the various jobs are color-coded to help make distinct jobs more visually distinct.  The difference between a broker and a bookkeeper is in the item in their hands (a gold coin and a sack of goods vs. a book, respectively), but they are otherwise similar to let you see that they are similar types of jobs.

Also, "bands" can be problematic - if they're only one pixel wide, nobody's really going to be able to distinguish what color they are.  "Blobs" are easier to distinguish... which is why I try to rely upon hats, since they are just slightly differently-shaped blobs of color that can be very easily distinguished.

Anyway, I'm very close to finishing, now.  I only have thieves, consorts, dungeon masters, hammerers, captains, and advisors to go.  I should have this done tommorow.

Oh, and sense it seems like a habit now to post a new sprite every post...

I found an interesting site while looking for some good models for the "consorts" to the various nobles.

http://factsanddetails.com/china.php?itemid=108&catid=4&subcatid=20

It's always fun to read up on neat random information.  Apparently, concubinage is a cottage industry, especially just off of Hong Kong.

Anyway, should I make the consorts dress like harem-members, or more like nobles with slightly less flashy clothing?

Also, should I make the consorts male in appearance, and then just try to make all the nobles female-only, like elven princesses?  That way, we'd have a powerful queen with a harem of men type of appearance.

Oh, and here's the duchess -

Speaking of jewels, do you think she looks better with or without a tiara?

The baroness and countess look similar, but with different colored fur coats and fans, and the countess wears a fur hat, while the baroness wears a less ornate hair ornament.

That was an interesting read. I'd say go with the less flashy noble look, unless you really want the harem member look for them. And forcing the nobles to be female only positions does sound interesting, you could make the consorts the half naked beefcakes Bleu had in her own lil world in BoF4.

The tiara is really hard to see zoomed out, at least it is for me. But, I'd say go ahead and keep it.

OK, here we go - baronesses are in the middle two slots, while we have a selection of consorts off to their side.

Those are good, mmhh beefcake. Only gripe is he's bald, I never particularly cared for the shaved heads thing, but if you've ever seen the tv series of highlander with Adrian Paul. I've always thought he was pretty hot there with the ponytail he had in some of the episodes. The lady consorts look good too, I like the bottom right the best, though what is she holding?

Peacock feather fan.  You know, the thing the concubines always wave in typical cartoon versions of harems.

You know, I could ALSO make it so that queens or even just nobles who have consorts will have more than one consort (although only one "real" husband), so that we could have a trailing bunch of beefcakes waiting on the queen.
