Haha, well... like I said, I'm very bad at video games.  I didn't exactly grow up playing them.  This is actually the first game I ever played with guns and stuff!  Before that, it'd only been RPGs and the occasional puzzle game.

I missed it, didn't I? Damn.

..Well, at least there's a next time.

Yeah, I saved the replay (skip the first half hour, it's just sound gunk), and there will be more tomorrow.

I could also do a summary, for the lazy or time constrained.

Mainly it was this over and over again:

Guard: Was that a- nah, elevators just do that from time to time. No need to worry.
Vector: Help I'm being shot in the face SAVE ME MEI LING
Mei Ling: You know Snake, the wisest cranes wait for sunset to go diving
IronyOwl: WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH US BEING SHOT?
Simmura: Guys, the codec is totally 140.15, I'm not lying this time.
Snake: Ladies.~

Also of note was the elite guards figuring that if the secret agent dove into a vent they're clearly gone and the crisis is over, and Vector realizing that blowing up the hostage caused her to lose, and thus attempting rigorously to shoot him. Yes, she succeeded.

The kitchenette mold free, you move on to the pantry. it's nasty in there. The bacon is grazing on the lettuce. The ham is having an illicit affair with the prime rib, The potatoes see all, know all. A rat in boxer shorts smoking a foul smelling cigar is banging on a cabinet shouting about rent money.

And the wall of C4.  That was pretty good, too :D

Well, okay, that and the hand grenade I was trying to use to kill Baker and instead managed to explode myself with.

Very entertaining playthough of MGS (at least by the time I left), possibly rendered more so by the midhaps. You simply must do more guns stuff, Vector!

If folks have a morbid curiosity, I might stream the ORIGINAL original Metal Gear for the NES, if this is wrapping up when I get back in 3.5 hours or so. It's pretty 80s, is rather campy and Engrish, and lacks voice acting... I may have to be providing my best voice impressions.

I'd actually suggest finding the MSX version. It's just as campy and odd but it's a little easier to decipher since areas weren't swapped around and it doesn't have any looping maze sections.

I tracked down a working MSX Emulator and a Rom copy of the first 2 Metal Gear games. It's already looking better than the NES one I was familiar with, so thanks for the suggestion!

Anywho, I'm hoping to give a short demo run through the MSX Classic Metal Gear tomorrow afternoon, about 2 hours before this stream starts (4pm GMT -4). If you want to tag along, details will be listed over here. We can take a peak at how some of the first concepts of the Metal Gear series were born, and all with 8-bit graphics and terrible Engrish!

Oooh, could you PM me about the fleamarket where you picked those up?  I really wanted to try 'em out myself.

Stuff about MSX

Oh! OH soli, before you do MG2, make sure to get the manual from the translation site for the tapcode table, you'll need that at certain points of the game to continue.

My mum is out right now, so I could start it early and probably talk a lot more.

Would people like this, or should I keep it until later?

Well, I could actually catch it if you started it now, so I'd not mind. It'd work better for me to hold off on streaming the MSX version until tonight too, since my roommate is sleeping right now, and I don't want to wake him up.

Meh. I'm obviously a fan of later, what with the work and the thing and all. And stuff.
