I don't think this is a bug exactly -- it was just my bad luck and it has an easy workaround.  But it did startle me.

It's spring of year 3, and the broker arrives.  Within minutes, he demands that I mint coins.  WHAT.

It turns out that he had coins as a preference, and obviously I could have made tin coins or something else that wouldn't kick-start the economy.  But -- dear God, are brokers ALLOWED to ask for that?  Can you imagine some poor newbie playing this game for the first time, making a bunch of silver coins to please the broker, and then suddenly having the Bookkeeper turn up and all (economic) hell breaking loose?

But I'd be surprised if a newbie managed to get to year three, and even more surprised if they had forges running and a fort capable of keeping nobles happy. I don't think its that serious a problem

Actually, I think minting coins that don't have any actual value in the economy can start it.

Yeah, any coins start it up, and it probably is a bit extreme.  However, the economy isn't meant to be crappy forever.  It just sucks right now.
