Finding the blue lollipop!
« on: March 17, 2011, 09:44:21 am »

How do you find the blue lollipop? I don't get it. How do I even know that it exists on the map? I want to meet some clowns!

The blue lollipop will be in the Big Grey Circus Entrance Tent. The BGCET is not on every map, so not every map has a shiny blue lollipop.

If there's no big blue lollipop showing up in the appropiate listing in your stocks menu, then there's no Big Grey Entrance Tent.

If there's no BGCET, try tunneling into the fortress through the big blue skylights.

Warning - you must ensure your dwarves are properly dressed and equipped for the circus. There's a dress code. Blue metal seems to be in vogue, down there.

wait, it appears on your stocks even when you havent seen the BGCET yet? well that would have saved me  some trouble...
on the other hand, one of my dwarves accidentally walked into the circus without dressing properly and the clowns got mad, so it wouldnt have mattered THAT much anyways

is it fortressing your dwarfs or dwarfing your fortress?
Dwarf!  Indeed, a devious delight fond of drink and industry deceived as both do-gooder and devil by the delusions of deities.  This demander, no daft demeanor, is a driving force of the deadly diocese, now disappointed, delirious from goblin deception.  However, this delicious derangement of a demolished diamond stands determined!

Stocks? You mean the "Z" menu? Is it under weapons?

Yes, yes, and yes.

It does show up in the stocks. It's also counted towards your fortress wealth. Being that it's a masterwork blue lollipop, this'll attract kobolds in droves and flocks, even if you haven't uncovered it yet.

Incidentally, if you DO uncover it, I suggest forbidding it (in the upright lollipop's [t] screen), building walls around it, and then flooding the room with magma, if you don't want a dumb dwarf or some random lucky kobold snatching it and unleashing the clowns.

Can you smell the popcorn yet?

I know what you guys are talking about and I can barely follow all the cant.  :P It would be easier to use spoiler tags if it really counts as a secret.

Too much effort. Besides, if you know what we're talking about, how come you can't follow the slang?

Mosey on, daddy-o. We're too hip for squares like you.

Yeah but that would be less fun!

Which is ironic because this leads to a lot of FUN.

okay, you sorta lost me on popcorn, but if you're asking what i think you're asking, that fortress is now an aboveground section of the carnival

You mean the circus. And I didn't mean anything by "popcorn", though I suppose it could mean "fun"...

To quote certain troll societies, i loled so hard, the person next to me in the bus just jumped up looking terrified and sat at the opposite end of the said vehicle. ... should i attack her with my truly not masterful crafted sock (encrusted with blue teddybears nonetheless :p).
Sorry for ot :)

Good to hear I gave somebody a laugh. The dwarfy thing to do, though, would be to erupt in guttural screaming, rip your seat from the floor, and bash her over the head with it.

It's treated as completely normal because this is Dwarf Fortress.  There's absolutely nothing wrong with surrounding yourself with a wall of flames, only to later realize that you're surrounded by a wall of flames.
There's nothing that can't be solved by hurling fifteen roc birds at it.
