That makes some sense, although apparently people trying to leave the keepstar are still getting shot so...not exactly all roses right now.

Either way, I'm fine being done. I'll go do an Eve Gate pilgrimage and hang up my hat.

My main is Danlia Starseeker. I'll be online with her intermittently throughout the evening.

Heh. Probably wise. Still, I can hand out quite a bit since I don't know that I'll want to get back into eve. This is less a ragequit and more a 'I've done everything I really wanted to do and gotten bored the last few months' sort of quit.

But I suppose I could change my mind in a year or two.

Honestly, I'd leave yourself about two billion ISK (Darn inflation/PLEX price ridiculousness) and give the last 1.5 bil to somebody worthy.

But if you can't find anybody worthy, I guess I can be a decent person and get rid of that ISK for you.

Lifeblood update is up with the whole mining ledger and moon mining rework from drilling stations.

the lastest devblog introduces the changes that will come for Alpha players including:

-flying ships up to battleship size
-being able to train and use T2 small and medium weapons
-being able to crosstrain to other faction ships, including pirate ones.

so basically they want to open being able to fly all the subcapitals save for T2 (and i think, mining barges and other ORE ships).

I think Alphas still have a skillpoint cap though, right?
So they can't train all skills now open to them.

You guys seem to be taking a reductive and easily mis-readable of the announced changes.

From the dev blog (Supporting Changes section):

Quote
Supporting Changes

We are making one other very important change to the way Alpha Clones work in this release to support the expanded skill set:
Free Alpha Skill Training will stop when a character reaches 5 million total skill points. (emphasis mine)

Training after 5 million skill points works normally, that is, you can train skills with Omega time or Skill Injectors. (emphasis mine)
Any skills you’ve previously trained which fall under the Alpha set can be used at any time, regardless of Clone State.

It looks like this:

So...  Standard skill training as an Alpha still stops at 5M SP.  The expanded skillset up to 20M SP is usable, if it's already trained...  otherwise, you'll need to sub or inject to get those skills in the expanded Alpha set.

It's still a good change, in that returning players will be able to do more as Alphas...  but the Cheap Bastard Experience is still gonna be pretty limited.

Ah, nice. (For me anyway) So I could get like...my [ThatSistersExplorationFrig] out of whereever it is right now and bring it to a useful place. Fly around in some other stuff as well, not just the Minmatar ships.

Its really odd that they added battleships but not mining barges. I guess we will see alpha rokh miners. Mining 4 and mining upgrades 4 lets you use tech 2 mining lasers and mining upgrades. Only thing is it will be a bit of an annoyance of moving the ore from cargo to a can or hauler every 12-28 seconds.

I kinda doubt that.  The only good thing about small-scale mining is that it's low-risk and low-exposure (if you're not being daft about it).  Blitzing L3s in a cheaply fitted BC will be better money than punching rocks with expanded Alpha skills.  The role bonuses you lose for using a not-mining hull won't be recovered by hull size, or associated logistical hassle for not having an ore hold.

Barges aren't on the list to keep botters/RMTers hemmed in.  The last thing EVE needs is a reliable ISK faucet for those jerks.
