the simulated fit seems promising. with current skills it should be able to dish 50 dps from 2 meta 4 autocannons and 3 light drones.

it should also tank the same amount in armor for a total of 1900+ ehp. i cant run armor rigs because of scanning rigs occupying all the points so i have to rely on only T2 repper, damage control and a reactive armor hardener.

seeing that i wont probably move from the republic, it should be enough to deal with Angel ships and rogue drones. but i will probably have to get used to pulsate the repair module, my capacitor can only hold so much for a time.

i havent put implants on this character. think im gonna wait until all skills have been maxed to see which ones would probably help me. minmatar cannot learn armor rigging so i cant reduce the drawback for those so i'll probably have to rely on armor repping or raw armor implants.

traveled some systems while i waited for the drone skills to finish. current tank repping is roughly 20 hp/s so not very optimal. i found a 3/10 angel site and while i had to get out 3 times in the first pocked (target painter is a bitch but doable), i was able to kill the ships and tank quite the time.

if i could get enough to increase capacitor a bit i could ease the job. but for now it works. anomalies must be easier tho.

EDIT:

aaaaaaand she dead..got overwhelmed in enemy fire on the 3rd pocket. i couldnt escape in time. guess i'll stick to just exploration for now. only lost like 2-3 million or so since the ship was free with most components.

i was hoping to finish the site and snatch me a gist module for sale but oh well. should have brought a cruiser instead.

Are you running combat sites in a Probe?

Because that's downright ridiculous. Use a specialized combat vessel for those.

I haven't been on EVE recently, but next time I'm on I'll try and remember to pull that cruiser fitting.

yes i was doing combat sites in a probe. maybe if i had used an ancillary i would have tanked enough. capacitor cannot keep up.

i was actually doing damage. the issue wasnt DPS but tank. a small ancillary armor repairer with a few rounds of nanites should be able to fix it. and maybe change the reactive hardener for a dedicated explosive one.

still. not bad. and the ship is already replaced. im gonna stick to exploration of relic and data, and maybe carry salvagers in case i find lone wrecks if i jump into lowsec for some stupid reason. also put signal
amplifiers, sensor strength isnt high enough to make me hard to probe. but its something.

If you're running relic/data sites then do it in null or w-space, it's an order of magnitude more profitable.

And yeah, buy more ships dude.  Specialisation is the name of the game, and you were trying to open a tin with a corkscrew.

ehhhh. im still building skills so i dont think it would be prudent to get out of high sec. maybe later. for now im gonna build some money with these sites. even a full cargo on this ship should earn a lot of isk. dont have any rush to get rich. i'd rather rush to be prepared first.

If your character has the skills required to explore in highsec then they have the skills to explore in null. It's player skill and experience that makes the difference, and you don't get that by waiting.

To be fair, one needs a decent amount of probing strength to scan down null data/relic sites. So train up astrometrics and your racial frigate command skill (for scanning bonuses from explo frig hull).

cans in null are also much harder to hack.

anyway, i never understood how players that think of themself as miner, explorer or any other nice specialist can enjoy the game - eve is borring enough at times for the generalist.
also, keep in mind that eve is all about destruction and screwing each other over. the only way to not get frustrated by this sooner then later is to embrace it.
so... my advise is, stop training these wierd skills that dont do any damage, join factional warfare and learn how to fight. you dont need big skills for this, there is good money in it and youll instantly have a lot of allies that will help you to get started.

EVE is a sandbox.

Your playstyle is not the most important, nor the most central.

Industrialist/mining are the two most important cornerstones of EVE. Without them, you don't even get to fly. However, without something to do with what they produce, we wouldn't really have a game.

Everyone's important. You are just less important, as a faction-war PVP'er. Go to W-space, noob. Learn what REAL war is all about.

I dug up the fitting, hopefully I can get it to work here...

so you sit still or something on site?

i mean, the fit seems pure buffer. no resistance modules. i dont get it.

It's a passive tank. It is meant to be indestructible because it regenerates shields too fast to get killed.

With my Alpha skills (Pretty close to fully skilled on an Alpha level) I get 197 SHP per second, at a total of 22000 EHP, which gives me quite a bit of survivability.

interesting. compensate resistances with regen. im still worried about the signature radius tho.

anyways, i'll look at it when i can actually fly the rupture.

yesterday i found like 6-7 relic sites and 2 data. most of the profit seems to be decryptors for some reason. i kinda miss when alloyed tritanium bars were like 200K each one. but that was long before the whole exploration rework.

As I recall Decryptors are for researching T2 blueprints. And in high demand at all times.

Trust me, passive shield tanking is an acceptable doctrine. Just remember that this is NOT a PvP fit and you should not be fighting snipers with it, or they'll wreck you. It was given to me by a corp mate (And then modified to make better use of Alpha skills).
To make it more like the original, you remove the Power Diagnostic System from a low slot and replace it with another Shield Power Relay II, and replace a Large Shield Extender with an Adaptive Invulnerability Field II. This makes it a non-alpha fitting, however, so you'd have to downgrade to an AIF I, also my capacitor is unstable with that fitting, even without the AB running, so I swapped it to the present full-passive-tank setup I gave you.
