That link does not account for post-CSM changes; the reddit link I provided above does.  Obvious caveat being there may be a few minor tweaks that aren't public until the patch notes for the 15 Nov deploy go up.

Ahh, didn't see that, thanks. I'll have to review the post-CSM changes in some more detail and revise some of the fits I drafted.

That's a really paranoid take on it.  Small corps get wardecced all the time, for all sorts of reasons.

That said, I have a few ideas to mitigate the problem, to be shared with the corp when/if that happens.  First of which being we don't talk corp business here after the initial organizing and formation.  I'm guessing a discord channel would be the next logical step from there.

I've been victim of it the last time I formed up with another newbie corp, so I just felt the need to take precautions :P. I do agree that a discord channel or similar to migrate to would be best, though. And if there is enough manpower and organization, counter-gank fleets could be a possibility when the inevitable does happen.

Thanks for the links. I guess with the t1 equipment the lower fitting skills won't hurt that bad.

So some standard armor rifter should be possible.
I just hope the system requirements didn't change much since I left, as my computer isn't much better than it used to be.

The reqs are pretty mild, all in all.  I could've run EVE in some capacity on what my frankenbox was three years ago.  (I've had a modest CPU/RAM/GPU upgrade since then)  My box is still not a top performer, but does fine with default settings @ 1080p.

My aims for a Dorf Corp would be pretty low, really... Have people to fly with and practice basic fleet ops, some modest socialism to help fund/enable activites (or ease losses), and some light mentoring.  Help people find the resources to do what they want to do, and maybe a little matchmaking with established corps that suit the activities better, once they have a sense of what they enjoy.

It's your call and it can (rarely, but sometimes) work out.  The idea of 'does a little bit of everything corps' actually being 'never really does anything, then dies corps' is a meme for a reason though.

Eve Uni are active and in decent-ish shape.  Their approach is really formal, and the application process is a pain which might put off a lot of people, but they do what you'd expect from a corp of the name.

Brave Newbies had a lot of drama, coups and countercoups in the recent-ish past and are no longer the force they once were.  They're rebuilding steadily and seem to be getting back on track.  They're chaotic as all hell, by design.

Pandemic Horde are a great choice right now.  They fall somewhere between the above examples, with a 'learn by doing' approach to the game and sometimes run joint campaigns with Pandemic Legion, who are basically the most powerful entity in the game right now.  They also have a mentoring program involving guys from PL.  This is the only non-shit corp in the game which doesn't require an API check (although those really aren't a big deal).

Dreddit is the main corp in TEST Alliance and while not focused exclusively on newbros, they are very supportive.  It's the 'most Reddit' of all corps, with all the good and bad stuff that suggests.  Another corp in their alliance called Brand Newbros is arguably a better place to start while you're figuring things out.

Karmafleet is the newbie focused corp in Goonswarm and the only real way to join them without getting scammed if you aren't an SA regular.  Goons have recently been trounced and aren't in a particularly good place right now, but they'll recover sooner or later.  Obligatory Grr Goons.

Signal Cartel are a pacifistic group of explorers who provide valuable services to any who need them.  Nice dudes, but I like my pew too much to ever join.

All of the above will have some form of training plan, doctrines, free ship and/or ship replacement program, logistics network etc etc.

Are things like spectre fleet still going? I think I remember RvB disbanding, so their Friday night NPSI roam is probably no more anyway.

You remember incorrectly :)

Spectre Fleet are going stronger than ever and co-host RvB Ganked once a week.  Bombers Bar is another great NPSI group if you're covops capable.

Also, fair warning, Rifters are not a great ship any more by any means.

Yeah, Rifters weren't exactly beasts when I left two years ago. But Rifter fleets were a lot of fun and actually quite durable.
But I don't mind flying other ships as well, though I much prefer guns to missiles. Drones are ok.

I am cov ops capable, but I don't like them much, my missile skills are rather bad (no t2 missiles at all) and on an alpha clone that point is moot anyway.
When I left Spectre was more fun and had a lot more fleets than Bombers Bar.

Good thing about RvB Ganked, those were fun fleets.

faction warfare is a great place to start if you want to get into solo pvp. the whole content is very newbro friendly, and its about the one place in eve where you can learn to fend for yourself best.
tho income is only good, not great, risks are fairly low as well and its easy to make enough moneys without grinding much.

Aye.  You'll find that any list of semi-competent entities doesn't involve many highsec groups.

e-uni actually has bases in all zones of eve. they are permanently at war anyhow, so highsec doesnt make to much sense for them anyhow.

Well, since the upcoming free to play thing is so close I decided to pop open a trial account and check this out.  Unsurprisingly, mining is pretty profitable and I'm able to get around 1Mil isk every full haul in just a Venture, so in theory I could get up to that ridiculous 1.2 billion in less than a month and have a sustainable supply of Plex.  Radical.

I can appreciate the angle of maybe not having spare cash laying about for a subscription... but what you're suggesting is volunteering for digital sweatshop labour.

With the alpha skillset, you'll max out around 4 hauls per hour in a Venture.  1.2 billion divided by 4 million (per hour) = 300 hours.  For 30 days of sub time, worth 15 bucks.  You'll effectively be slaving away at a job that pays you 5 cents an hour for the privilege of not opening your wallet.  (and this is all assuming the PLEX prices don't rise significantly before you have that much)  If you approach it like a full time job (40hrs/week), it'll take you about 7 weeks.  The math doesn't really improve once you're PLEXed, even though you'll be able to accrue isk a bit faster.  You'll still effectively have a part time job vastly under minimum wage, when you could be not worrying about it and doing in-game things simply to enjoy them.

Finding some way to chase the money down out of game is a better use of your time.  Even if a proper job isn't feasible, there are ways to make a little cash.  Mowing lawns / raking leaves / shoveling driveways, other miscellaneous grunt work... they all pay better than punching rocks for 5 cents an hour.

Industry is a vicious sector of razor thin margins; the people making the money there have perfect blueprints, and have been at it for years.  The money you can make from missions won't be great as an alpha.  Faction warfare loot is better, but the risk exposure is higher because all FW is in lowsec.  FW will be a steep hill for pushing a boulder up, though...  one wrong move, you'll lose your haul and your hull.

The alpha restrictions aren't that bad, really.  You can do well at a lot of activities with cheap equipment, if you understand the systems. 

All this comes down to a futuristic version of "can't see the forest for the trees"...  Just because you _can_ get PLEX with isk doesn't mean it's a good idea, especially not for a new player.  Your time with the game will be healthier if you pick a side; be at peace with the free restrictions and have fun, or find the money in RL to sub and have fun.
