There's literally a menu that allows you to filter agents by various criteria.

Pay someone else a pittance to move your shit for you.

Or ignore the existence of missions and take part in one of the actually fun areas of the game instead.

That's all possible, but it doesn't make it either intuitive or the missions fun. Whilst they may not be the most 'fun' bits, they are the bits that most new players understand and work as a good way to get into the Eve groove and it's not very well designed for that. For instance, the jump between L1 and L2 is huge, and the need to build up standings is both vague and a grind.

I just feel that building a better mission system and pushing it towards new players would get them hooked much better than just giving them more time. The profit acquired would allow them to do more stuff, and the need to get better ships/equipment for higher missions would be a good incentive to keep advancing.

alpha clones aside.

has someone here used hull tanking for PvE?

im wondering because back when i used to play there werent those hull extension rigs. so it was something that very few people could pull up and it was mostly for PvP.

i heard the gallentean TD has a hull resist bonus that can make it possible with it. but still...im not sure of its usefullness outside PvP..

It's completely unviable.

Tanking in Eve can be roughly broken up into six different methods.

1. Active tank.  This is when you use shield/armour repair mods to, well, repair incoming damage.  While hull repair mods are a thing they are slow and inefficient by design (they're more intended for use after a fight), using them in this manner would be so inefficient you might as well not have any tank.  Shield and armour are both viable here, each has pros and cons.  Useful for almost everything.

2. Passive shield regen.  All shields recharge naturally over time.  You fit specific mods/rigs to increase this substantially.  Useful for almost everything.

3. Speed/sig tanking.  Often combined with other forms of tanking, this is when you make your sig radius as small as possible and your speed as high as possible to mitigate incoming damage.  Shields for speed, armour for sig. Useful for low end PvE and fighting players in larger ships.

4. Buffer/brick tanking.  Max out your effective hitpoints.  Awful for PvE as you can't stay on grid indefinitely.  Hull tanking can really shine here.  Useful for PvP (particularly bait) and anti-gank abilities.

5. Logistics ships.  Kind of like 4 but you instead max out your resistances to increase the ehp healed by logi.  Armour or shield.  Useful for basically everything, not practical/efficient for PvE other than wormholes or incursions.

6. Range tanking.  Just be further away than your opponents can shoot.  Everything else is irrelevant here.  Useful any time you can pull it off.

Yeah 'hull tanking' is more of a joke than anything. There's a cert for it but only because its super ridiculous. I think the cert even says something like 'only real men hull tank'

The Comet hull tanks well, as does the Catalyst.  Both combined with a Small Ancillary Armour Repper, so I guess its a buffer tank, built to last through the rep cycles.  Both for PvP.

buffer hull tank got buffed a lot in the past. it can be very strong now, solo and in small gangs.
active hull tank, yeah thats meme  lvl bad, because hull repair modules are realy realy slow.

so I can fly around for free and gank people in frigates forever? fuck yeah

pretty much....i dont know the tech limitations tho...but i guess with sufficient skillpoints on it and Meta 4 youre good to go...

EDIT: oh wait, i forgot the revamped the module system.....does meta 4 still exist?

The meta t1 modules that have been transferred to the new system generally have similar stats but each has a particular advantage. For instance, in the warp scramblers there's a compact one for easier fitting, an endurance one that uses less capacitor, and a scoped one that offers slightly longer range than the other t1s.

reactivated my account to burn out the hype a bit. organized most of the stuff im surely wont use once my account becomes alpha so no BC, no Cloak, no T2 mods, no Mining Barge.

also sold a lot of stuff i had accumulated from Mining/Salvaging/WHs

sitting at 300+ million mark right now.

decided to try and to high sec anomalies with a shield tanked arbitrator and sentries. everything was going nicely.

until i tried to do an expedition in a 0.3 system

no, i didnt get ganked. the system was as dead as new player in a wormhole.

i lost my ship to 2 fucking large missile batteries..

i tanked the first room without much issues. was tanking the final room without sweating, when suddenly. missiles start to hit me for almost 1/8 of my health each one.

i dont know if that's broken or its because of the increase in signature radius..(i was using a L size shield extender for the buffer increase, but i was also using type focused hardeners and a damage control)

seriously that's bullsh*t...

i replaced the ship of course. dropped the AB for another shield extender and changed my turrets to small beam so i can track any small ship that gets past the sentries. its blood raider space so any drone or rat that past Curators or Gardes wont have much time to do anything.

still i may need the shield. dont want to risk my ship too much.

What site was the escalation? If it was a 5/10 you'll want something beefier than an arbiter for it, like a heavy assault cruiser or battleship (even then you'd likely want to assassinate the overseer, bookmark the wreck, and warp off).

It was a 4/10. It was mostly frigates to cruisers with several missile batteries...

I was close to finish it. The last Wave was dying but as soon as i got in range the missile batteries started to deal obscene damage on me.

I had also lost my sentries due to the ai changing priorities.

If so, sounds like you were doing Mul'Zatah Monastery. Gotta' take your time with the last room and kite the cruisers, compartmentalize and take the groups one at a time before moving into heavy missile range (roughly 40km).

indeed. or i shouldnt have orbited the other ships, the first missile batteries at the entrance of the final chamber were easy to take down.

as for now

checked my PI instalations. some of them were not routed (i dont know why)...but most of the facilities were extracting and producing.

meanwhile i tested the new arbitrator. it works fine most of the time, except when ships start to go past the sentries. in that case i have to dispatch them with the beams.

got enough money to cover a launch of biomass to the POCO. the next should be a stock of bacteria. saving them up until i have the storage full for moving it out with a hauler.

didnt find an expedition today. but got enough sites to keep me busy. except for a forsaken hideaway, the fight got to a point where nor the rats nor me were dying so i just gtfo out of there. not worth the time. i got full cargo tho.

was thinking on doing L2s and have like 11K LPs in the store but i dont really know what to buy for profits.

did some missions but the LP earning was slow.

put a market buy order for some low cost tritanium. but it hink it wasnt worth the effort. i'll see what happens with it. 20 millions can be recovered.

in fact. i found another 4/10 site. dropped C-types capacitor transmiter and armor repairer (medium).

among normal loot and the overseer modules. i hope to sell everything.
