I ain't quitting unless Star Citizens is as enjoyable as EVE. But then again it's a slightly different genre (you can pilot from cockpit and have multiple players crew a single ship) and it's not due for released until god knows when.

So yea, whenever you quitters change your mind, I will be there to welcome back and hug you. :3

Yeah, EvEs PvE is terrible, especially alone.
Even missions can be fun if you do them in a fleet. WHs always have the added thrill of possibly getting popped.
Incursions require some more skills, and are in theory just as boring. But with a nice fleet is is fun, and seeing your wallet flashing rather often and knowing you just got 10 or 30mil is very satisfying as well. You then want to upgrade your ships, so you can see the flashing more often. The sites themselves are not very interesting apart from the fact that you need fleets with logistics to do them.

That's awesome. I really like emergent gameplay stories, but I hate doing repetitive activities, grinding etc..

I'm contemplating whether I want to continue subbing or not myself.

Presently I'm mostly cruising around in a Coercer and trying to find interesting things via scanning, with a very minor side of missioning.  Outside of one or two gravimetric sites (which I wasn't looking for anyway, because I'm not doing the mining thing), I've pretty much found gobs of wormholes and rogue drone sites.  So many damn rogue drones.

I'm working my way to an Omen, but even though I could buy one now, I certainly couldn't afford to replace it.

And I'm very sad that there's never anyone on when I'm playing at night.  I'm contemplating sticking around in the Bay12 channel, but joining a more populated corp, maybe that EVE University one since I'm still pretty new.

At least if I do continue to sub, I'll be sitting pretty with the ship piloting skill changes >_>

My advice to everyone considering unsubscribing is to join a nullsec corp and try that before you go. Or follow's Anja's lead and join Brave Newbies Inc. I think they have the right idea.

It was a mistake to base the corp out of Ordion. It's in the middle of absolutely nowhere, far from everyone and everything. Some of us said this from the beginning. If you're stuck in highsec, far from trade hubs, far from nullsec, with your only nearby lowsec systems completely empty 98% of the time...yeah, there's not much to do but mine and run missions. Mining is boring. I don't understand why so many people do it. Missions are better...but grinding missions gets boring pretty quickly too. Wormhole space is...its own thing, I suppose. But the wormhole that Tenhr chose for you guys was a tiny, isolated little pocket chosen specifically for the purpose of being boring and quiet.

Eve is a pvp game. Pretty much everything Armok has done has been done in a way so as to minimize pvp. Some of you who are bored haven't actually played the game yet.

The corp is dead and people are unsubscribing. You have nothing to lose. Sell your mission-runner if you have to and buy a dozen frigates and fit them out as best as you can. Plot a course to Solitude and try to run the gatecamp at PF-346. Enlist for factional warfare. Try attacking a Concord vessel. Try attacking a lowsec gate gun. Learn how buy/sell orders work, go to Jita and buy 50 million worth of ammunition and relist it for .01 ISK less than anyone else. Refresh in 20 minutes and watch how the market responds. While you're there, suicide against an industrial. Go to a mining hotspot and type "Yarrr!!!" in local. Target random people in highsec to see if they preemptively fire on you and get themselves blown up. Go to nullsec and fire at a megacorp's PoS to generate "we're under attack" mail, then go hide in an asteroid belt to watch the reaction.

So something other than highsec mining/mission running.

It comes down to the fact that I don't enjoy eve's combat. In the end, it feels like generic mmo-style combat with a little added depth in the form of transversals/distances.
Honestly, I don't think you ever experienced EVE's combat outside of missions and PvE stuff, the excitement's in the PvP. EVE's PvE is the boring stuff you have to go through to fund your PvP fun.

I respect your decision to quit though, been considering it myself.
Personally, I believe an important part of a game is how interesting it makes working to your goals to be. So having to go through boring stuff to get to the "fun" is already a minus, the path should be enjoyable in its own right. Especially if they're charging you for it.

The fun (well, I'd call it more engaging than fun, whatever ^^) in eve's combat is knowing that what you're fighting for means something. You feel like something is actually at stake, and you can't just try again if you screw up. You also know that the other guy feels that way. I know this feeling from other games (and competition in general), and yeah, it's quite enjoyable. However, when it comes down to it, the core combat mechanics are boring to me. And considering the number of other games that can provide this rush, I'm happier choosing the ones that I love the core mechanics of (and don't have to subscribe to, but I really wouldn't mind if I felt it was worth it).

I'm playing a lot of warframe lately. It's a nice change of pace from the pvp games I tend to play, and the developers are quite transparent about things, which is always a plus. Also, space ninjas.

I would be very careful about EVE University. They're pretty much constantly at war, though admittedly I don't know their current status. They have a very extensive application process, one that I completed entirely, and then decided against joining because of the stifling atmosphere. I waited about a week after filling out an application to get an interview, and I decided to turn it down in favor of joining Red vs Blue. EVE Uni just had so many regulations on what ships you can fly based on your level of experience. At least RvB was a pleasurable experience, to a point, but you have to have a decent amount of isk to blow, and you can't run missions while in corp. And most of the fights are prearranged, taking out all the surprise and tactics.

I think the best bet for people who are currently experiencing the torpor that is EVE PvE while in Magma Forge would do well to join a 0.0 corp or at least faction warfare. Dratha and I (Lasik) had a very pleasurable experience roaming to null sec and even though we got destroyed, there was a thrill involved that one never experiences running missions or wormholes with little to no threat as we have in the past. I believe that's what I'll do when I get the time to start playing again. Unfortunately due to exams next week, I dunno if I'll be able to get on other than to update my skill queue.

Anyways, as for the status of the corp, I think there is a slight possibility it could be salvaged if a majority of members would be willing to switch focus to PvP, but I feel we lack the experience required to operate our own corp. We could always go through the trouble of trying to find an alliance to join, but honestly the simpler and better option would be to allow those who want to leave to leave and see who's left.

Just my 2 cents, anyways. The ultimate fate of the corp lies in the hands of the members, after all.

That trip to null and getting asploded by the Arbi and Naga was fun as all get out :D Considering I only lost a few mil in that entire exchange I consider it ISK well spent for the thrill I got. Seriously, null roam rocked once we found something to shoot at :D

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

It doesn't take much ISK to pvp. Problem is that people think of it as a standard pve progression, so they train from frigate to destroyer to cruiser to battlecruiser, continually buying bigger and more expensive ships that they don't want to lose because that's how they advance in pve...so they never get around to actually doing any pvp. You've probably seen this. People say they want to build up more before they head to nullsec, but who wants their first trip to null to be in a 100 million ISK ship?

I think my first proper trip to 0.0 was in a Rapier. :D
I lost it at the last gate. :D

We had a fun pvp fleet yesterday, although all we killed was a lone destroyer and we lost two battleships. But we were first chased by a t3 gang from an alliance that has (super)capitals (we saw one thanatos carrier that was probably theirs) and later we were chased by PL and Sniggwaffe who had a large fleet of Machariels and Cynabals. We were quite lucky to only loose two ships to them.

But you can have as much fun in frigates or cruisers. Look at the fits in this article: http://themittani.com/features/pvp-everyone-derp-frig

they cost almost nothing. And if we can get 4 or 5 ppl online this weekend i'd be happy to take us through lowsec so we can get blown up somewhere.
Not the lowsec close to Ordion though. I'd start from Dodixi into the faction warfare area.

Hi. I killed a Dev yesterday.

 http://zkillboard.com/detail/30300887/

Unfortunately I'm not on the kill board because I was the covop on scan supplying Intel.

If you're bored or say eve's combat sucks, I definitely recommend you join my main pvp toon in Brave Newbies. It isn't about the isk or grind, it's about the fun per hour and constant explosions.
