Folks, knowing the profit potentials of Incursion, I'd suggest we start building our own corporate Incursion fleet with the purpose of being able to run Incursion at least every weekend.
I would be interested in participating. I'd prefer armor tanking, as thats where my skills are, but I'll contribute wherever needed.

I'm in favor. Do we have any experienced incursion fleet commanders? Also, how many logistics pilots do we have?

Incursion type (e.g. Vanguard or HQ)

I suggest we start small.

Perhaps ISK-strapped members can start off with a logi ship (Basilisk or Scimitar)

I'm aware of noone in the group I would describe as "ISK-strapped" who is anywhere remotely close to being able to fly these ships.

set individual goals to learn specific skills required to effectively contribute to the Incursion fleet.

Agreed, but the timing is bad, since a lot of us have the next month or so worth of skill training reserved to take advantage of the summer skill change.

I agree with LordBucket that this is a bad time to start training for incursions. Plus we probably need way more experience to be able to do them properly. We should stick to wormholing until we have the hang of that and make enough money to fund any other crazy thing we might want to do.

I (Anja) am able to fly a Logi, HAC, T3 or Battleship, although I don't currently own a Logi. I'm all Armour, as well, so I can't join any shield-based incursion fleet.

Hey, been meaning to get into EVE for a while, just thinking of finally starting up now.  Anyone got any tips for a fresh(ish) player? (started a trial version a year or so ago, but didn't really have time to play it properly)

Toss one of us a message and we will invite you to the B12 chat in game. Much easier to give advice there. You can find me in game either on Tenhr or Tenhrwppe, or you can find me on DFC on steam.

I am for incursions as well, and I have way more training in armor then shield, so I vote for armor. I can fly a HAC, with less then a week training it can be a full T2 fit as well, battleships, but no logi or T3.

Don't mean to be a bother, but would anyone be willing to put me on the invite a friend system? 21 days free is nothing to scoff at, and i'm pretty sure it gives some sort of benefit to the sender as well. Thanks.

I agree with the points raised so far regarding the timing for incursion training, but I do think there is great merit in the idea overall and beyond the summer skill change training some people are doing, I think it would be a great idea to get ready for this.

As for myself, I'm all about armour, though I've done a little training towards shields, recently, it's still no where near good enough to compete with my armour skills. I can fly and fit T2 Amarr anything up to and including battleships if the need arises, and I have high logi skills and recently purchased (but haven't fit, and might need to look up a good one) a Guardian.

While people are focusing on the summer skill change training, continuing to work on Wormholes would seem like the most lucrative idea.

Train shields up for incursions. :P
There is a reason why most fleets are shield tanked, they are faster and make more isk. Their reps are better as well, because they hit at the beginning of a cycle, not at the end. So you need less buffer. Less buffer = more applied DPS = more ISK. Vanguard shield fleets basically skip the buffer on BS. Just resists around 60% and you are fine.

I can FC vanguard fleets. Have done it before.

2 t2 logistics are needed. 7-9 DPS as well. Logistics pilots need to be able to lock 10 targets. I could fly either (in a shield fleet, DPS only in armor), but I would not dualbox a logi. Not sure about armor, but shield fleets can field tier 3 BCs as the cheapest ships that are actually useful. Fleets need a webbing ship as one of the DPS. Best one is Vindicator by far. It is also the most expensive one. Loki and Huginn work as well. You can shield tank almost any ship for incursions and t2 shield hardeners don't take that much time

I recommend someone who has experience running incursion fleets make up a list of roles and more importantly a recommended training list for those roles. List specifically what skills and what level someone should shoot for to fill that role, so that people can begin drawing up training plans for their characters.

for the command ships, the new requirements for the warefare links are secondary. personally i cant say for sure what this means, however ive been told it means these skills are only required to inject the command ship skill, but not to fly the command ship.
this means, if you have the command ship skill before the split, you wont need the skills to fly the ship - and you wont get the skills for free with the skill change.

for incursions, i would suggest that your corporation etablishes contact to the e-uni. they usually have incursion fleets running, and they are very helpfull in getting new players into the game, even if they not belong to e-uni.

Count me out of incursions for now. Even though I have ample funds to buy any ship that would be used to run it, I just don't have the skills to actually pilot such a ship :P

I should have made myself clear regarding Incursion. It's meant for post-Summer skill change training, since I am still stuck with it myself and will be for the next couple of months.

We can use the time now to plan ahead on the specifics. Perhaps the biggest question is whether our fleet is going to be shield- or armour-tanked. To my knowledge, shield tanking is indeed more preferred in Incursion. Ideally, we can have both, although this involves more cross-training.

I'd say myself as ISK-strapped since my most expensive ship is a 20 mil ISK Caracal. :p This is why I think a logi ship would be ideal for someone like me. I believe a Basilisk costs 100 mil ISK, as opposed to a 700 mil Tier 3 frigate or a 250 mil ISK battleship.

700 mil Tier 3 frigate

Firstly, you mean Tech 3 Cruiser. "Tiers" are the old way of ranking how good a ship is within it's class, and that is being done away with since CCP is moving towards a roles-based system.

Secondly, a well-fit (Meta 4/5) T3 only costs about 300m ISK, give or take. It's the fully pimped Deadspace/Officer/Faction/T2 fit that will cost you just shy of 1b ISK.
