[random drive-by thread comment] Don't forget someone mentioned wanting to do manufacturing as well[/random drive-by thread comment]

That gets complicated. There are eleven different types of manufacturing arrays depending on what you want to build. A basic "modules only" array with 6 slots takes up 150 CPU and can reasonably be worked into previous examples. But here is the relevant quote:

that might be enough for me for now... also my manufacturing skills are very high :P im working on getting capital ship stuff
and not long off skilling for that also if people make tech 2 blueprints and don't mind me buying them for mates rates ;)

Need to know what you want to build. In particular, you say you're skilling up for capitals...but capital ships can't be built in highsec, so there's no point trying to accomodate that. I'm willing to re-do the examples with specifics, but to do that I need to know what the requirements are.

We could, for example, trade out one lab and some defense for three manufacturing arrays and get something like this:

* Caldari Small tower
 * 1 basic labs, 1 advanced lab, 1 module manufacturing array, 1 ammo man. array, 1 small ship man. array, 4 ECM, 1 warp scrambler
 * Lab Slots: 4 copy, 5 ME, 3 PE, 7 invention
 * Manfuacturing slots: 6 for modules, 5 for ammunition, 10 for fighters/frigates/destroyers
 * Fuel costs: 3 million ISK/day

That all fits on a caldari small tower, though doing so leaves very little powergrid for guns. If we want anything more than that, we pretty much have to go medium.

Just remember that our cost estimates so far have only counted costs for the tower itself. Even if we only go with only a small tower, our current ~380 million fund is not enough to buy everything in the above example. if we go medium, yes that gives us more room for future expansion, but it's going to be future expansion and not things we have on day one.

Checking Jita prices now:

 * Small control tower: 72 to 75 million
 * Medium control tower: 152 to 155 million
 * Basic lab: 77 million
 * Advanced lab: 118 million
 * Ammo assembly array: 6 million
 * Module assembly array: 42 million
 * Small ship assembly array: 78 million

If we want to go big...that's fine, we can go big. We're raised nearly 400 million in just a week. Maybe this is totally not an issue and we can afford to to go big. I just want everyone to understand what we're getting into.

I just started playing a few days ago, and I'm wondering if I could join you guys? So far I'm doing missions and learning the basics. I'm not entirely sure what role I'd like to play yet, but in combat I'd prefer using rail guns ^^

Welcome aboard Katana, that makes the four of us newbies (to my knowledge). Please join "Bay12 Eve" channel so we can get in touch with you.

Well I would never come close to building full capital ships, mostly just either parts for the ships, or guns, modules anything which sells well really :P

Maybe a few ships here and there.

I think I'll sign up again as well.

I have an old account (beta account) but I haven't played very much since beta, so I only have like 6m skill points, almost all in combat. I am thinking about starting a second account to do loot hauling and salvaging.

I should be able to help you guys with Amarr standings at least. If I remember correctly mine are extremely high.

Not sure what I am going to do other than that. I don't even know what skills I should train up.

Fikes, using your main account, you can use the "Start a Sidekick" deal for the second account. It will cost you only $25 for 90-day sub on the second account.

You won't run out of things to do on EVE. :p

Which is why I think just using the Ordion facilities for manufacturing would be a better idea then having dedicated PoS modules.

Hey guys.

I am complete newbie to EVE, tried trial a year ago but it didn't touch me, mostly because of boredom of playing alone. If you are willing to take me in your alliance, what kind of roles are available/preferable? I love bay12 society, though I mostly read forums, and I am sure it'll be a sack of fun to play with you guys.

I believe some manufacturing can ONLY be done in pos modules

I'm not playing eve (but might in a distant grim future since i'm kinda interested) but have several questions regardless...

FIGHTER DRONES!

I love seeing my enemies being picked apart by swarms of pesky allied fighters/bombers.
Are there any valid PvP (or at least somewhat gank proof) drone based ships (from what i saw carriers and actual fighters/bombers are something i might not see before 2020 even if i start yesterday anyway so i'm asking bout them drones)?

MINING DRONES!

I love watching others slave away for my gain (even if the said "others" are just a bunch of simple minded algoritm driven machines).
Are there any mining ships that are effecient with mining drones possibly even foregoing a mining laser only to be capable of sending more slaves mining drones (Sadly I assume drones are just a secondary thing slaving away in the background while you molest asteroids with strip lasers)?

So yeah people might consider me a harmless psycho but i just like the equilibrum that comes with mining/trading and stuff like that.

Yes, there are combat drones, fighter drones and mining drones.

Combat drones come in light/medium/heavy/electronic warfare/armor maintenance/shield maintenance varieties. There are also salvage drones which will pick wrecks apart for vital valuable bits.
Fighter drones are used by carrier ships. They are massive compared to combat drones, packing a lot of firepower and can operate independently of the carrier. They can even be given to other people to control during a fleet engagement, and have a warp drive so they can chase people down.
Mining drones are also a thing! There are only 2 types, a tech level 1 and a tech level 2 drone. They are handy!

Wiki link of ships that carry many drones.
But as far as I know there's no ships specifically for mining drones. Then again, I've only been playing for ~20 days so I wouldn't really know.

EDIT: WTF spellcheck, "spicifically" is not a word. Don't try and tell me it is.

A lot of the Gallente droneboats have bonuses to mining yield as well as Damage and HP, so it's certainly possible to use them for that. A mining barge will be far more efficient, though.

Yes, but so far as I know, the only PoS-only manufacturing cannot be done in highsec, as it requires Sovereignty.

Pretty much. So like I said, Ordion has plenty of slots open, and it isn't like its expensive to use them. Would save us a lot of ISK and PoS PG/CPU.
