I'm looking through it now. Signal to noise ratio seems bad. It looks like it's 400+ pages with at most 50 pages worth of useful information, and a lot of that is simply describing what skills and things do.



Generally speaking, the economy seems much worse than it used to be. Things are more expensive, but money-making is more difficult. Even playing a character with 13 million skillpoints and about a billion worth of assorted assets, I find myself struggling even to pay to insure my ships.

So, what kind of ship would one need to go sleeper-hunting in wormholes?

Ooh, wormhole diving! This is my area of expertise  :)

As someone else mentioned you'll need a well-tanked battlecruiser, but there are some other provisos as well:

- Make sure your resists are roughly even and around 70-80%, as sleepers deal ALL damage types.

- You should try to make sure your fit is not too cap-intensive; some of the sleepers use energy neutralizers and if you're relying solely on a shield booster to maintain your tank, you're going to have a bad time. You're going to want a big buffer (i.e, armor plates / shield extenders) and lots of resist modules.

- If you're shield tanked forget the shield booster and just fit modules that increase your resists and passive shield regen (shield power relays, and maybe throw in some flux coils)

- If you're armor tanked you'll need an armor repper, so grab some capacitor rechargers (and maybe flux coils) to counteract those energy neuts somewhat.

- You need to be aware of which sleeper is the "trigger" for the next wave of sleepers, or you might end up fighting several waves at once and be overwhelmed. Use this site for reference before you warp into a site: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=wormholespace - the sleeper marked TRIGGER should be killed last for every wave.

Of course so long as you stick to level 1-2 wormholes (and flying solo in a battlecruiser you definitely should) you won't run into any scramming sleepers, and will be able to warp off at any time if your tank won't hold. Remember that the valuable loot found in wormholes is the salvage, not the blue loot. You will want to salvage every wreck, as any of them can drop "Melted Nanoribbons" which are worth about 5-6M a pop. This is where the money is, and this was how I made my first billion in EVE  :)

I've been wanting to get into WH's, what do you think I should fly? I mainly do Gallente and armor tanking, and im trained for most T2 stuff. I'm just not sure how to even start, scan down a wormhole, scan wormhole, jump in with BC?

Just did my first wormhole.

Was a C1. Didn't know quite what to expect so I flew in with a T2 frigate fitted with a wrap stabilizer. Scanned a sleeper site. Saw some planets. Warped around to look at them, but saw little of interest except a customs station belonging to a corp with 10 members. Warped to the sleeper site, which had 4 frigates and a destroyer. They saw me at 170km range, so I went back out and got my T2-fitted drake and engaged.

They drained me pretty fast and I ended up turning off both my resistance mods. Didn't make much difference, as they never got me much below 95-95% shields. They were however, making fast work of my salvage drones, so I gave up trying to salvage as I fought, and instead killed them all...triggering the second wave that was fortunately far enough away that I could salvage the first group. When I had only one wreck left to salvage, the second wave noticed me and engaged.

That was when a tengu showed up and started firing on me from 30km. So I warped out and went home.

End result:
 * 20 minutes flying around looking at stuff
 * 10 minutes actually fighting sleepers
 * 16 million worth of salvage

Of course, that doesn't include the hour or so I spent scanning through three different systems, or the fact that I've spent multiple hours on other scanning runs and this is the first time I've ever seen a wormhole.

Also, could refit my drake to effective tank of ~300 dps if needed, but I kind of suspect that faster damage would be more useful. Not sure it's realistic to expect to be able to tank anything in pvp so being able to kill things more quickly to get in and out before being noticed might be preferable.

I think it is mostly the anomalies that are interesting, not the other sites (the signatures).

Also be paranoid. Have you checked that dscan in the last 5 seconds? Well, it is time to do it again.


When i am exploring i usually find more WHs than anything else, unless of course I am looking for them.

But exploring seems harder work than it used to be. Scanned in Derelict yesterday, and found not a single combat site, not even an anomalie, in 10+ Systems. No Radar sites either. It seems more people are exploring now. (About a year ago I found stuff there regularly, and the last couple times it was always almost empty.)

For a pretty good explanation of how the wormholes themselves work, you can read the evelopedia article on wormholes.

Be aware when entering a wormhole (if the wormhole leads to unknown space) that the only points you will be able to warp to without bookmarks are the sun, planets and their moons. There are no stargates or stations. So in other words bookmark your entrance wormhole! If you don't, and do not have a probe launcher, you will be stuck and cannot leave unless someone shows you an exit wormhole or you get podded. Either by getting killed or by self-destructing.

Now, what you're probably interested in when raiding wormholes are the combat sites. Combat sites are either anomalies that can easily be found either using the on-board scanner or very easily using scan probes (I'll assume you know how to use scan probes and the on-board scanner). Anomalies are fairly common and their difficulty depends a bit on the site, but anomalies in a given wormhole system are roughly equally hard (list of all W-space anomalies here. Wormhole systems are classified in difficulty from class 1-6 (C1-C6) Where C1 anomalies contain only frigate and cruiser sized sleepers, C2 contain frigs, cruisers and the occasional battleship and C3 where every site has at least one battleship. C4 and higher you don't want to do solo, so I'll not talk about those here.

All systems can also spawn radar or magnetometric sites which contain loot containers that needs to be opened using either a codebreaker or an analyzer. These contain bits and bobs used in the production of T3 ships. The sleepers at these sites are more numerous than at the anomalies, and usually they are closer to the next class of difficulty than the one you're in (i.e. a C2 radar site will be close to a C3 anomaly in difficulty). They, however yield more loot and salvage, and are thus more lucrative. They also needs to be scanned down, like any other cosmic signature.

For C1 wormholes I'd recommend a Battlecruiser or an assault frigate with good skills. In C2s, an AF will probably have a tough times with sentries doing a lot of damage and being webbed while BS's are present. Sleeper battleships dish out a lot of damage. I'd recommend a BC for C2's. C3's can be done in a supertanked BC, but you'll take ages to finish stuff. A T3 cruiser is better, but almost two orders of magnitude more expensive.

Regarding the loot and salvage: the higher class of wormhole you go to, the more valuable the loot will be in proportion to the salvage. In our C3, the loot the sleepers drop is roughly equally valuable as the salvage. In C1 and C2's the salvage (i.e. the melted nanoribbons, the other salvage is basically junk) will probably outweigh the loot in value.

When in W-space, you'll not have an automatically updating local channel, so you won't know how many people are in system with you unless they speak in local (they never do). So what you'll want to do is to learn to use D-scan and be paranoid. For whatever reason, the evelopedia seems to lack a guide on the directional scanner, so I'll explain it here instead. The directional scanner (D-scan) is basically an active sonar ping. It shows you what is in space in a given (solid) angle from you (usually 360°) within a certain range (max ~14 AU). It, along with some basic spatial awareness will give you a pretty good heads up if someone is about to jump you (unless they're cloaked, which happens surprisingly often). Don't forget to scan a few times every minute, every 5 seconds ideally.

Drugs may not be as lucrative as you think. If they were, everybody would produce them.

i have heard that the most pure boosters/drugs make 10mil a pop but its worth the try and see how it does, i mean i wont really get caught by the cops because i can just sell them in the station near our PoS and the only thing which might put people off is the need for a PoS and getting caught and losing all your drugs to the cops when trying to jump to sell them ? if you never try you never know

I found the best way to explore was to be prepared to profit off of whatever I found; mag sites, radar sites or wormholes. Or plexes even, once you know which are the good ones.

But you can't make the good ones out of stuff you find in highsec. And they are not that widely used. And you can get caught easily. I got caught with the fake drugs you can get in missions. Passing one gate can be enough (doesn't mean they get you at every gate).

But you can't make the good ones out of stuff you find in highsec. And they are not that widely used. And you can get caught easily. I got caught with the fake drugs you can get in missions. Passing one gate can be enough (doesn't mean they get you at every gate).

Its easier than ever to harvest gas clouds in lowsec with the addition of the Venture; the thing is speedy enough to avoid just about any lowsec gate camp and GTFO when trouble shows up, although you'd need some way of clearing the rats out of the LADAR site in the first place. Honestly, the mechanics for "smuggling" drugs are very poorly understood, and the people who do understand how the system works don't want to reveal their secrets for obvious reasons. However, it is known that if you're caught at the gate by customs you can simply refuse to pay the fine and then warp off quickly before they scram you. You'll take a sec status hit doing this of course, and the faction police of that system (but not CONCORD) will come after you, but that's the price you pay for being a dirty drug dealer.
