he'll refine the ore of anyone who puts it into the ore bay of the Misha office, so long as you send a mail to the corp noting what's yours.

resulting minerals will be put into the general corp storage and a mail will get sent telling you how much is yours. This is on a semi-honor system,

Suggestion: Stations containers with people's names on them.

Quote
you can also put ore in there to be sold to donate to the funding of the PoS.

Again, station container with a "donations" name.

Great idea! Thank you. I wasn't aware you could do anything like that, so I'll be sure to figure it out and put it to good use.

EDIT: Went ahead and bought 15 station containers and put them in the ore bay for easier sorting. If you want a container, but did not receive one, just eve mail me and I'll make sure you do. You're free to move them as you like, if you relocate to a new office or something similar. They're too big to be put on a ship unpackaged, so they're fairly useless except as station storage.

I've played free trial, but only for a while. But I'm not sold on MMOs.

For me, Eve is one of those games that are much more fun to read about (all those amazing plots, betrayals and whatnot) than play yourself. The other one is Pathologic - no connection whatsoever - crappy english translation, painful chore to play - but the concept is amazing.

I dislike most MMOs myself.  I really hate the mind numbing grinding of mobs that seems to be in every single one.  EVE has that too, but the difference is you don't have to do it if you don't want to as there are lots of different ways to make a living in the game.

Now, EVE can definitely be extremely boring and grinding at times.  But you can often have a great time if you find the right group of people to hang with.

If you like the "unfriendly" aspect of EVE, where anyone could be out to screw you, as a rookie pilot you might want to give ninja salvaging a try.  It really pisses a lot of people off, but I've also met some cool folk doing it.  Just search "ninja salvaging" on the eve forum.

Oh wow, i haven't really posted all too much in the forums, since i am new to the forums here. But I didn't realize how many played EVE. I should have figured now that i think about it. Currently trolling around through space with Man of Paper, haha. I missed this darn game.

I can vouch for him. He's actually a good friend of mine and I finally convinced him to join the forum instead of asking me about things constantly. I actually think hearing about the Corp was the convincing point in this case.

In other news, my Frigates skill is popped down to 4 thanks to me grabbing some quick loot off a wreck and getting completely bapped by some dudes. I fought off one, but I think he called in some friends who were, uh, pretty big.

So, do we actually have an IRC channel?
Nothing shows up searching the thread.

It was the shitty basic clone. First time getting podded, won't be making the clone mistake again. But hey, I got introduced to PVP and actually had the upper hand on someone! I say that bodes well. I'm a little flustered, because now I gotta wait two more days to fly the Manticore I've been going on about, but it's a learning experience.

I still feel terrible that I was mining at the time and didn't get a chance to make it to you before getting popped.

Does anyone do exploration stuff? It seems like something I'd enjoy, but I'm not sure if it's something I should go for. I already have lvl.5  mining, refining, and something else related to digging fancy things out of space rocks, so I got good bank coming from that. I'm just wondering if it's worth the time to train the skills for a second source of income.

I want to do some exploration stuff, maybe we could work together? I'm still fairly new, only played for a week. Whats your in-game name? I'm Randall Selsinki.

We have an in-game chat channel: "Bay12 Eve"

I've dabbled, and I know there are others who do too. Somebody mentioned just yesterday having found a wormhole, for example. I've never mined a gravimetric site, though, if that's specifically what you're interested in.

If we can keep some mats please ? I'm gonna start getting into industry and producing items, so if you can get some blueprints as well for stuff we need quite alot then we can have a good supply.

Also how long till we get the PoS

And I'm starting to get into exploration and currently skilling for a noctis.

I'm also putting in ships into the corp hanger so we have spares for stuff.

I advise learning how blueprints, research and manufacturing works, then doing some test cases before you get too involved or spend large sums of money or make general policy of keeping minerals for production rather than selling. Otherwise, you're very likely to end up simply throwing ISK away.

http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Researching_blueprints

If you simply buy blueprints, mine and refine ore then use it make stuff and try to sell it, you'll generally end up losing money compared to what you could make simply by selling the materials.

Related, I also recommend you read about refining efficiency:

http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Refining#Efficiencies_and_relevant_skills

Very often if you lack the proper skillset and/or standing with the station to do the refining at, it is more cost effective to simply sell raw ore than to refine it and sell the materials. If you then combine inefficient refining with inefficient production using un-researched store-bought blueprints...you'll be wasting vast sums of ISK compared to simply selling ore and using it to buy what you want.

Yes, don't bother with Tech1 manufacturing, you just won't make a profit unless you have excellent skills and blueprints (though you could make an exception for ammo or drones or other such cheap things if you think you prefer making them on the spot instead of going to a hub to buy them cheap).

Tech2 manufacturing and research takes much longer to skill and start going, but you're far more likely to at least make a profit, as long as you do a bit of spreadsheeting to double check your investment before going all-in  :P

On the other hand, if you want to do it just for fun, why not?  You won't make money at first, but after a while, after you learn how stuff works and you get your skills up, you'll have a useful character.

I agree, though, that manufacturing is a horrible way to make money with a beginning character, as is mining.  There is just too much competition.  If all you care about is money, stick to missions, or trading.
