Nobody has stepped up and created a corp yet, no.

Someone really needs to. I was going to do it the other day but someone said someone else was going to do it so I did not.... :P

corp

Still waiting.

I went looking through the thread last night and it turns out that Zehive is the current CEO of Hidden Fun Stuff, which is the previous bay12 corp. He's obviously stopped playing Eve, but if he's willing if can get a free four hour reactivation which would be long enough to transfer the corp over. But he hasn't logged on here in a week and a half and I haven't received a response from him.

We could of course make a new corp, but last I heard there was no consensus either on name nor base of operations. As for name, I think Armok's Beard, Armok's Salvage and Mining, and Armoks-something or another which still being considered. But nobody really seemed to like any of the proposed names.

As to location, two have been proposed: Ordion, which has four people very vocally insisting that they like it...mostly because that happens to be where they already are. And Vourassi, which nobody is very enthusiastic about, but a few people have expressed willingness. The most most common two opinion I've heard so far are either "don't know, don't care" or "no strong opinions, but don't like Ordion because of X and/or don't like Vuorassi because of Y."

The problems with Ordion are that it's:
 * In the middle of absolutely nowhere
 * Is far from nullsec
 * Has a weak trade market

The problems with Vuorassi are:
 * Local pirates are Guristas, which means they jam
 * Local pirates are Guristas, which means Amarr players are stuck doing weak damage because Guristas resist lasers

Running proposed solution is to have multiple offices, but spreading ourselves out with a 45 minute jump distance seems like a bad idea to me.

EDIT: Disregard below. Mostyn has to be CEO.

:( looks like I will not be getting EVE downloaded today, which means probably at least another week before I can attempt it. Library is closed and their wifi is off :( Right now accessing internet from Books-A-Million which has internet comparable (barely) to my phone's 3G connection. The First payload for the manual installer isn't scheduled to finish for some 9 hours at this speed! This is very uncool... I hate living in the middle of nowhere *pouts*

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

Important

Actually, it just occurred to me that Mostyn pretty much has to CEO, at least to start. We want a PoS, right? So far as I know he's the only one of us who'll be in the bay12 corp who has enough faction standing to anchor one.

http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/POS_and_YOU#Standings

If we put the PoS up in empire space, the corporation has to meet standings requirements. And corp standings are  function of the various members. So...what we'll need to do is have Mostyn either take over Hidden Fun Stuff or make a new corp with only him in it, then anchor the station, and then only after that can anybody without high standings join, or else they'll lower the corp standings and prevent us from placing the station.

Could just call the corp Boatmurdered Inc./Corp./Mining. I dunno, could also do something with the phrase "Strike the Earth!" assuming this is a mining corp OR we're just using dwarfy names.

Why would we use Boatmurdered? That was a goon thing, not a bay12 forum thing iirc.

My friends know pretty much nothing of DF but have read the story of Boatmurdered. I'm assuming it's decently well known in places. I see what you mean though.

I still like the idea of turning "Strike the Earth" into a name somehow.

Yes, I know what it is. It was from the SomethingAwful forums, not here.

Of course, I can simply create the corporation, anchor the PoS and then hand the CEO position to anyone who'd enjoy a chance at running a corp, and seeing what all the options are :D

I'll go ahead and drop roles and transfer CEO in Order of the Pathless Way to someone else, it'll be 24 hours, and then I'll be able to leave the corp and create a new one. As LordBucket has pointed out, one of the only things that really needs to be decided between now and then is the name. Everything else can be worked out after the corp is made.

So any other suggestions, or votes for any of the suggestions already made?

I like Dwarves in Space and Elephant Rampage.

Also, not sure if you guys would approve but I've been considering piracy. Getting our corp money or whatever through not-so-legal means and I can see it being thrilling. Once again, not sure if you guys would want a pirate! xD

The thing about pirates is that they tend to not make friends. In fact, they very quickly make unfriends. And then those unfriends may attack those around the pirate in an attempt to get back at them. Which in this case would be the fine people of Bay12.
