I proposed Boatmurderers as a name yesterday, could be Armok's Boatmurderers as well. Or Boatmurderers of Armok. Or Drunken Midgets. :)

I can't join right away, will need a bit of time, as we need to discuss what to do with the corp i am in atm. I do incursions for a living, and i'd want to continue doing that, because I need the money to pay for may account. And it is simply the best money shooting stuff in highsec. I'd be happy to help others start in incursions as well.

I am all for a more laid back leadership.

I like the name Armok's Beard or something in a similar vein as that. I'd try to keep it as abstract as possible, considering different people within the corp seem to have different ideas as to what we're going to focus on. It'd be weird to name ourselves like Mercenaries of Armok or something and then all decide on becoming a mining corp, just as an example.

I'm personally up for whatever activities the corp needs me for. I'm relatively new, but I have a decent set of core skills, mainly focusing on Gallente warships up to cruiser, and industrial and mining training. I'm also not tied down to any particular corp, so as soon as it's formed I'm ready to join.

I'm currently in the process of relocating to Ordion, as it seems to be a decent enough system with a smattering of missions and mining to be had. I would personally prefer something a bit closer to Jita, but seeing as a few others have already decided to go there and they seem to know what they're doing, I don't mind deferring to them.

As for government of the corp, I have no real preference. I wouldn't really feel comfortable in any position of power; I like being told what to do and how, especially when I don't know how. Though I think it'd be better for the corp as a whole and in line with the general climate of the Bay12 forums to have a more laid-back, casual atmosphere rather than running the corp like an actual corporation. Too much bureaucracy and organization is a pretty good way to suck the fun out of something.

For a corp name I'd prefer something simple which references DF only obliquely so its not totally obvious. Something like Galena or Hematite, or MagmaForge

I'm just going to say now, if we name it something stupid, I'm out. I'm not one normally to make a big deal out of something as decorative as a name, but that's all a corporation really is, a name that everyone attaches to themselves.

Armok Mining and Salvage is a nice professional face on whatever we want to make of it. What does it matter if we're shooting the things we end up salvaging? I'm still up for other suggestions. But I'd rather join Lady Kaye's Fluffy Bunnies of Death, than "boatmurdered" or "drunken midgets." Not to mention Boatmurdered has goon connotations attached, and are we really sure we want to even get involved with goonswarm? I certainly don't.

This is my humble opinion as a newcomer in the game who plans to stay for the long run regardless of the outcome of this discussion. Please bear in mind I may lack the exposure to the sort of activities a vet pilot would have had (i.e. living in wormhole, pirating, gas mining, etc.) and this has a significant bearing on my opinion.

If we establish a new corp, I'd propose the following.

Spoiler: "Name and icon" (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: "Corp management" (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: "Corp activities" (click to show/hide)

Since I don't have the knowledge, skills and ISK needed to excel in PVP, I'd rather avoid it and focus on PVE content for now. I have combat skills training plan (using EVEMon) for the first 12 months and in the meantime will work on wealth building to reach self-sufficiency. Missioning and mining seem ideal.

I am constantly told that PvP can be done with minimal character skills in a simple frigate. Sure, you wont be winning much, and you wont be able to solo and will have to do it in a fleet, but you will gain the actual skills (not character skills) that you need to be a good PvPer.

But don't mind me, I've yet to PvP in EVE myself. Though I am eager to try some frig PvPing, and am willing to give cheap-fitted frigates (currently Merlins and Griffins) free of charge to newbs who cant afford disposable ships (Though the fits would probably need to be tweaked depending on what character skills the character has.)

I just resubbed my main, who has 10.5m SP. I wouldn't mind joining a corp, I am not really sure what to aim for skill wise, but I was thinking of focusing on mining. I am a couple weeks from being able to use an Orca. I personally wouldnt mind a low/null sec home, or basing out of a pos. It sounds fun and very profitable.

I certainly don't mind the goons, they bring a much needed element of instability to EvE. They also seem very noobfriendly (to their own noobs).
That aside, I like the Magma in the name, it is a nice, not too obvious hint.

I would prefer a home closer to a hub as well (does not have to be Jita. Dodi, Amarr, Rens or Hek would be fine by me), because I know it can be a pita to move stuff to a hub (used to live ~ 10 jumps from Hek). And it can be even more annoying to replace stuff and ships. It is hard to do a spontaneous roaming if half the ppl have to go get a ship first, 12j away.
Though if we have industry minded players ammo and things like that might not be much of a problem.

Info dump/update:

After a few people had pointed out some drawbacks with our base in Ordion, a few of us have done some looking around for a more suitable base of operations.

Tentatively, we are looking at Vuorrassi, which is:

 * A .5 system
 * One jump from lowsec
 * Two jumps from nullsec
 * Six jumps to Jita
 * One jump from Oimmo, which is a system with nineteen asteroid belts for mining, and is also .5 so the ores will generally be good
 * Has agents of levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 for the Spacelane Patrol all in the system. This is a Caldari corporation and its Loyalty store sells Caldari Navy goods.

Additionally, it happens that Mostyn already has enough rep with the Caldari empire that we could build a station there right now without grinding rep.

So...this area seems to have pretty much everything people have been asking for. There are however, a few issues:

 * The area is favored by the Guristas, which are notorious for jamming. This means that missions in this area are likely to be relatively more difficult.
 * The nullsec junction is very probably the most heavily trafficked junction in the entire galaxy, and is therefore probably swarming with player pirates
 * It has three adjacent systems, two of which are highsec, and one of which is lowsec. This means that it is possible that some missions that send you to nearby systems might occasionally direct you to do your mission in that lowsec system. Which means carefully checking missions and possibly turning some down if you don't want to risk being fired on by other players while doing them.

So, while this system does have everything people have been specifically asking for, it does have some drawbacks. Over the next few days, we'll be visiting the system to try it out. Feedback is welcome. If you get the chance or you're in the area, please visit and let us know how you like the area. Also, in the event that we do relocate, anyone who has a freighter and would be willing to transport large quantities of materials from Ordion, please let us know.

Heh, I am in favor of that, considering I am currently based out of Oimmo.

We were not only looking at systems, but also at something else...

We'd like to do a lowsec roam tomorrow (sunday). I'd be your humble FC, though I have not done this very often, so I'd be happy to stand down for someone more experiencend.

Formup would start around 12 eve-time. start would be later, as we'll need to set up ships for the newer players. Some of us can provide ships for new players as well. So don't be afraid to come. :)
Just be sure you can use microwarpdrives/afterburners, webs and scramblers.

I said we could form up at Ordion for those that have ships, Amarr for those that don't.

I am in favor of the move to the new system you describe.

As for the roam, where will it be? I assume in Ordion's neighboring lowsec systems for now. I cant guarantee I'll show up to the roam itself, but hopefully I can transfer the frigates I have stocked to someone that will be there, so that newbs can use them.

Gah! It's like as soon as I move all my stuff, we move all of it to a new place.... Oh well. I like the new spot better than Ordion, I just wish I'd waited a bit longer to jump down to Ordion. I was originally in Perimeter which was a jump away from Jita. Moving from Perimeter to Vuorrasi takes like five minutes in comparison to moving from Perimeter to Ordion :/

That's why I'm waiting until we have a definitive place to move anything. I've got too much shit for me to move about wantonly. On top of the fact that I still have junk spread all over the area.  :P
