I think the key there was the community. The feeling that we were working together and having someone there to just chat with while doing something so boring. I honestly didn't even stick with that group that long though. I think I might have played for about 2 months then.

Absolutely every MMOG on the planet eventually boils down to simply grinding away, wasting time.  That's the whole point.  The players are looking for an entertaining way to waste time, and the developers are looking to keep people playing month after month after month.  They all get repetitive eventually.

What keeps an MMOG entertaining is always going to be the MM bit - the other players.

Get a good guild in WoW, or a good corp in EVE, and you'll have the time of your life.  Play it solo, and you'll get bored.

The last couple times I played, once I mostly ran missions and hunted rats. The other time I tried out trading. Both of those got old quick, but I didn't really have anyone to do them with either. So... yeah.

Mission running, ratting, trading, mining, exploration...  It doesn't much matter, really.  It can all be done solo or in a group.  Maybe one will appeal more than another...  But, when you get right down to it, it'll be more fun in a group than solo.

They've still got the trial program, don't they?  Could do that, instead of actually resubscribing...

and if you're doing the trial, pm me for an invite so that if you up on your trial, I can put the reward towards the corp. (The Greater Good...)

And start from scratch? I at least have a decent number of SP saved up from when they would still run your skill improvements while you were unsubbed.

I'm a lurker on this forum, and I quit playing EVE like four months ago. I happened to get a job last week, so if I resubbed would I be able to join? I fly a Gallente Cruiser at the moment

Certainly you'd be welcome. Join channel "Bay12 Eve" and our corporate HQ is in Finid.

Okay, I'm back in Eve. Once I get my bearings again, expect to see me in the Bay12 channel on there.

I guess I missed that.  Yeah, starting from scratch is rough...  No point doing that unless you have to.

Nice.

Haven't actually managed to fleet up with anyone yet, but there's some good conversation in the Bay12 channel.

We fleet up pretty frequently. I think we were doing stuff for three or fours hours yesterday - couple hours of mining and then we ran through a level 4 Angel Extravaganza. I had to drop out about halfway through, because I was getting not-so-subtle hints from the family that I needed to spend some time with them.

Everything is going well for the B12 corp(s). We got some blue prints, agents, mining ops. Everything is looking up.

I think it is time for our first battle clinic. We don't have the specifics worked out yet, but anyone wanting to participate should train to fly an Executioner with after burners. The weekend is going to be pretty busy for me, but definitly some time next week we are going to give it a shot.

Just a quick mention about the level 4s we've been running. It doesn't matter how long you have played EVE for you are welcome to come on level 4 missions. Last night we had six people run the mission over the course of three hours. In total we had two battleships (Apoc/Abaddon) two destroyers (Catalyst/Cormorant) and two frigates (Punisher/Tormentor) in the mission. Frigates can be very useful in these to prevent the larger ships from being Webified/Warp scrambled. So it's good times all around.

Oh right, in the two/three hours we did the level 4 mission, I made about 4.5 million ISK off of bounties and the mission's turn in.

Just follow all of the tutorials. If you have no attachment, it may be simplier to start as Amarr. Once you are done with the tutorials you can come out and join us. Hopefully we'll be able to get you on your feet.
