The Epic Arc's cool, I just wish there were a few more of them for L2 and L3 missions. Although the last few missions of it certainly count as being that hard. Final Boss is an utter bastard. Even my cruiser couldn't take him down.

EvE tossed me a free 5 day trial for my 4 year old account.  I'm liking it it so far, so I might pick it back up.

IGN's name is Baus Gran, typically seen around Jita

It's probably worth mentioning that AnimaRytak is the only ecstatic dwarf in the entire fort.
Quick, check him for rum! The bastard's probably spirited some off to his lair office, to act as pleasant refreshment as his evil scheme unfolds!

I also got the 5 day trial and just downloading now.

Can anyone give me tips on what race and stuff to go? I'll just do all the tutorials to start me off I imagine.

Are there any specific race advantages I should know about? Which is the best race? Most fun?

Races are more of a cosmetic choice these days, everyone gets the same stats. They have different starting skills, but the differences are so minor they might as well not exist. Any race can train and fly any other races' ships so don't worry about that.

My advice is to choose race based on what backstory you like and then research the different races' ships and train whatever race you want to fly early on.

Here's a (very) brief overview of the races backstories and what their ships usually does:

Amarr: Teocratic society, slavery practicers, believes they are bringing the word of god to nonbelievers. Largest empire story-wise, allied with the Caldari. Ships usually use lasers and heavy armour tanks.

Caldari: Corporately controlled society, the mega-corporations own everything. Fond of anything high-tech. Smallest empire story-wise, allied to the Amarr. Their ships use shields for defence, missiles and railguns for offense. They generally have the slowest ships in the game.

Gallente: Space federation, not much more to say. They think they are New Eden's last bastion of liberty and freedom and do not hesitate to spread their ideals. Second largest empire story-wise, allied with the Minmatar. Ships use armour tanks and drones and hybrids (railguns and blasters) for offense.

Minmatar: Tribal newly built society. Were slaves under the Amarr for a long time, rebelled and broke free. Second smallest empire story-wise, allied with the Gallente. Ships use either shield or armour tanks (depending on ship) and both missiles and projectile turrets. Mainly projectile turrets though. Fastest ships in the game, fond of hit-and-run tactics.

This is woefully incomplete, the backstory of Eve is massive, and If you're interested I strongly recommend at least looking at at least some of it. I also think the character creator has some more info on each empire and bloodline.

I'd suggest Caldari. Their ships are pretty much the best things you can fly for doing missions in, and they're not bad for anything else you want to use them for.

Went as Minmatar, they sound cool and I like the idea of running around in a fast ship :D

Also going Caldari, you start closer to Jita which... as much as I hate it you can't beat it for buying stuff.

Playing a free trial right now. I have a couple characters with millions of skillpoints from a few years ago, but figured I'd play the trial for a week or two before paying to see if I want to renew.

There's a "Bay12 Eve" chat channel, but nobody seems to be talking in it much. A bay12 corp might be nice, but probably impractical since longtime players are unlikely to abandon their nullsec corps to join, and from the thread it looks like we're all different races, which would create problems because of how corporate standings work.

Game is pretty much like I remember it. I think I'd be interested in playing if there were a bay12 group. But soloing is pretty much awful, and I don't think I'm interested in starting in fresh on corporate politics and making friends and everything. So, if somebody wants to make a bay12 corp, let me know and I'll probably join. Otherwise, don't think I'll renew.

Briggsy16: I would also second the vote for Caldari. Unless it's changed over the years, shield tanking is generally superior to armor tanking, and missiles are long range, never miss and don't have to worry about angular velocity or tracking at short range, so they're generally more convenient than other weapons. Also, in general I'd recommend against focusing too much on trying to always get the biggest most expensive ship you can. Bigger is not always better in Eve.

That really depends on what you are looking for. Jita has everything but as long as you're not looking for billion-isk super-rare faction/officier equipment you'll find pretty much the same prices in the other trade hubs. Some goods even have lower prices in other places.

As for other trade hubs, there is at least one for every empire, and several smaller (with a smaller selection and higher prices) hubs. The main hubs for each empire are:

Amarr: Amarr
Caldari: Jita (There's also a popular mission running system whose name eludes me at the moment)
Gallente: Dodixie
Minmatar: Rens (Hek to a lesser extent)

Will this work with the steam version?

Because steam has a -75% sale on eve now (30 days)

I got it on steam with this sale + 14 days trial that you get if you have no buddies.

Well, yesterday was when Incarna went live, and walking in stations is now happening. Problem is, whatever new graphics they've added in screw my computer royally, and I now bluescreen on startup.

Brilliant.
