Hey guys.  I used to play this about three years ago.
I just bought some EVE game time.  I figure, why not.  I'm curious about what the game looks like these days.
Perhaps I could join the corp.
*suspicious glare* Your first post here is to join up with us in eve? Really?

He did post this before. :p

Hit 'z' and look at the justice screen.  Did the dead dwarves violate some noble's mandate?  Something similar happened to me, and it turned out my captain of the guard was killing dwarves, I think because they "broke the law".

I mostly lurk on forums.  I joined this one to read about Dwarf Fortress back in January.
You don't trust me, that's cool.  I can find others to play spaceships with.

Heh, I don't trust anyone in EVE. Nothing personal.

For getting money, I recommend Industry, tech 2 manufacturing to be precise.
Will take you very long to get the skills and set up

With the rumored changes to research and mass availability of datacores from LP stores rumored to be coming in the next expansion, I'm not sure that now's a good time to freshly start working on that particular pipeline.

Also, is it realistic to make a steady stream of T2 blueprint copies if you don't have a PoS to ensure access to research slots?

Aww I hadnt heard about those changes. Though honestly, datacores are already ridiculously cheap compared to returns on research, so that alone won't be enough to make a dent in it.

As for realistic, well, it works for me because the manufacturing runs are so long. So, while I'm manufacturing the stuff of my previous invention run, I fill my research slots with copy jobs (which are the things that take so long because all the copy slots are always being used), but once the copies are done, its actually easy to find unused invention slots.

Think I'm gonna be playing EVE way later unfortunately. My current craptastic computer has trouble running EVE so I must wait till next december. Oh well.

Note that the character creator consumes way more resources than the game itself, because it was stolen from some other much more recent game that CCP made. On my machine, I sometimes had to wait 5-10 seconds after mouse clicking during character creation, but even so the game is totally playable once I get in.

You might try that.

I know, it's just that I LOVE making good characters so it's really hard to with an extremely laggy character creator.

Okay, well at Mostyn's (Cernunnos) request, I've decided to make a comprehensive list of all suggestions for the corp name, considering he plans to make it tomorrow. If anyone wishes to add to this list their own suggestion, by all means be my guest. We're looking for as many suggestions as we can get, so don't be shy!

On second examination, I've seen very few actual suggestions, other than these from LordBucket (Lady Kaye)

A few suggestions off the top of my head:

 * [DWiS] Dwarves in Space
 * [AlcMi] Alcoholic Midgets
 * [AlcMi] Manic Alcoholic Midgets
 * [Flood] Flood the World
 * [Magma] Kill it with Magma
 * [Carp] Carp of Doom
 * [Catsp] Thermonuclear Catsplosion
 * [E.@.E] Elephant Rampage

Most everyone expressed a desire for Armok to be incorporated into the name somehow, which we could easily remedy without shoving Armok directly into the title by making the ticker [ARMOK] or something of that nature. I like the Armok's X naming scheme, but if anyone has something that's a bit more snappy, it'd be greatly appreciated. My personal favorite would be something along the lines of Armok's Hammer, or Armok's Fist, but I know people have expressed displeasure with this sort of naming style.

I'd still really like something subtle that doesn't say "WE ARE DWARF FORTRESS PEOPLE HER HER" though I'm okay with the tagline being ARMOK if thats available/possible.

Hey all. Junkie and I are in a fleet mining while we talk about the Corp name.

From everything suggested I'm quite taken by Magma Forge and Magma Holdings, but still considering some options. Junkie has suggested a number of different combinations of <x> of Magma or Magma <x>. Two that caught my eye are Magma Mercs and Magma Militants, though perhaps a variant on those: Magma Mercenaries or Magma Militia. Though both of these names are quite suggestive of the corp's core activities, which we're trying to avoid.

Update:
Corp is made - Magma Forge [ARMOK], I've thrown together a corp logo but that can be changed whenever we want.

On the point of a PoS, to anchor the control tower in High-sec space the corp needs a standing of at least 5, but the corp's standing is an average of all member's standings to the empire who owns the space. So it's likely I'll need to be alone in the corp to anchor the tower. However, we do not own a tower yet, and the corp needs at least 24 hours to update it's standings anyway, so I'm thinking that for the sake of getting things together and us running some fleet ops we could go ahead and let everyone join up now, get everything sorted out in terms of logo/directors, etc.

Once that's settled, and we actually have a Tower to anchor, and have picked the location, we can go ahead and have everyone with lower than 5 standing drop from the corp until the following down time has passed (standings update then) and then I'd anchor the PoS and everyone can jump back in.

To apply to the corp, just search for it in people & places, or if you've added me as a contact, show info on me, then click on the logo for Magma Forge, and chose to apply. Once we have some directors in the corp then it wont be reliant on me being around to approve the applications personally.

On a completely unrelated note, would anyone be up for a high sec mining op this weekend? I can't really offer anything great, I just have a little Venture but if there's a few of us it could be fun AND profitable. It'd be nice to make some money that could go towards the corporation (I have no idea how much these things cost!) and a good way to get to know each other better.

Keep in mind that while standings are updated at downtime, they don't instantly pop to the average of the members.  It could take a week for the corp standings to rise up to 5 after everyone drops out of the corp.

ALSO fyi, corp standing is based off of your base faction standing, NOT your adjusted faction standing after skills.
