At this point, Anja Galena, Slu, Smooth, and I (Erisu) prefer Ordion.

We don't think the distance from Jita is a big hindrance because we don't make that many frequent trips to buy/sell anyway. And it's not that far away from Amarr.

Plus from experience, Guristas drop crap loot, so missioning will give more ISK in Ordion.

Just our two cents. :3

PS: Just subbed for a year. :p

Been thinking about trying this game and paying if I enjoy it. Is there any Bay 12 group or whatever? I've read up and I guess if everyone weren't the same profession such a group wouldn't work...

You have excellent timing!

Yes, there is an active B12 group that started up again about a week ago. We're still trying to decide what sort of corp arrngement we want, so I'm not sure how many players total we have yet, but I've seen as many as 8 in channel at a time, so at least that many, probably a few more. Some old players, some new. We've done some fleet ops, we've been scouting out places for a possible PoS, and we have a pvp training session planned in a couple hours.

So, yes....now would be an excellent time to join.

Once in game, our chat channel is "Bay12 Eve".

That's not really an issue. Most everyone is a combat pilot, and some people are also miners. You can be both or either, and having people who are the same mostly just means you have people to play with. I advise against focusing on production or research as a new player. if you want to do that, plan to spend a few weeks playing doing other things first.

Finally, most of us seem to be Amarr or Caldari, and we've mostly been playing in those parts of the galaxy, so it might be of some marginal benefit for you to play one of these races too, since your faction rep will be more easily compatible and you'll start out closer to where we are. That's not a deal breaker though like Horde/Alliance would be in WoW, for example. If you really like one of the other races avatars, feel free. You can always move over.

Sweet, I'm not really sure what a "Combat Pilot" is but mining doesn't look too entertaining. Anywho, I'd probably need help now and then so I don't go and accidentally lose everything I own. I hope you guys will continue to be active because IF I do enjoy the game and wish to put time and money into it then it'll probably be just before 2014 when I get my new gaming computer. I'll get the trial you linked for me though, does it start as soon as I register? If someone else uses that link can I not use it?

I'm not really sure what a "Combat Pilot" is but mining doesn't look too entertaining.

By that I meant "fighting" in general. Mission running, dedspace, scan sites, whatever. And yes, mining is not the most exciting thing in the world to do. Though it is a relaxed, laid back and relatively risk-free thing you can do to make ISK while chatting with people. Some people like it, some don't.

Feel free to ask questions both here and via our in-game chat channel. Chat will probably get answers faster if people are there.

Quick tip:
Do the tutorials mission chains. The first one will be from Aura and that will give you a starter ship. Once you finish that there will be several to choose from: business, basic military, advanced military, a couple others. These mission chains will not only give you a lot of useful information, they'll give you several million ISK worth of ships, skillbooks and modules. At the very minimum do both military mission chains as they will save you a lot of time and money getting skills and ships that you'll want anyway. The others are not as important, but you may as well do them. Don't plan on doing them all at once though. There are probably a good 10 hours worth of tutorial missions if you decide to do them all.

Quick tip 2:
Read the mission descriptions. It's not always necessary to kill everything, and there are a couple "trick" missions even during the tutorial that all you need to do is scout, see that there are enemies that completely outclass you then immediately turn around and turn the mission in.

Quick tip 3:
The character creator requires about three times as much gaming computer buffness as the game itself. Even if it's painfully slow to the point that you literally have to wait 5-10 seconds between clicking your mouse and seeing anything happen...once you've made a character and get in-game, it may be totally playable.

Personally I bought three months of game time in advance, and I think a few others bought as much as a year. So yeah, we'll be playing for a while. Also, Eve tends to be a game that people come back to even after they leave. This thread, for example, is two years old, and I've seen it revived a couple times.

I think the timer starts the first time you log in to the game rather than the instant you subscribe via the link, though you do have to log in within something like 24 hours of signing up or else the trial is canceled and you have to start over. Anyone can use the referral, no limits. And by using it rather than the general trial, you get 21 free days instead of 14, and when you subscribe I get a free month. So win-win for everybody. :)

Does anyone play dust ? Cause I'm also going to bring my ground character into the group. If people don't mind buying me find from time to time I can earn us some cash on there :D

Woot, excellent to hear that we'll be seeing you around for at least a year, hopefully a lot longer :D

As for staying in Ordion, that certainly works out for me. I'm quite fond of the place and the region as a whole, it'd save me having to move all of my ships (of which, there are quite a few) if nothing else :D

Though if some people wanted to mission in Vuorassi on Gurista's there's no reason we can't have two offices, one over there and one here in Ordion. Though I'd suggest we set up the office in Misha actually, as it's only 1 jump from Ordion and about 20 million a month cheaper to rent in Misha station. That said, I can anchor a POS in Ordion without issue too (and likewise in Vuorassi) if that's preferred to renting offices.

Seems like things are starting to get a bit more organised now, with quite a few of us operating from Ordion, either mining or missioning. I'd say one of the only real things we need to settle on then, is the name, and possibly get a bit more of an idea of the icon people are after. I'm not sure if it's possible to play with the Corp Logo editor without actually making a corp first, but if it is something you can mess around with without committing any money etc, it may be worth seeing what's possible with it :)

I'm quite taken by the idea of using the name Armok in some way that's kinda subtle. Like Bay12, hiding in plain sight, sort of thing. I liked the general feel of "Armok Mining & Salvage" though I'm not sure on the specifics of that name. I'm not as keen on nailing us down with words like 'mining' or 'salvage'. I realise they are kinda generic in a way, but if we could perhaps find something even less specific that still has a sort of professional, or at least in theme (for Eve) feel, I'd love that. I agree with the idea that Boatmurdered may carry a bit too much history for us.

Off the top of my head, a rather weak example of something that has the right feel would be "Armok Privateers", as it's kinda fitting for how we seem to role as a Corp so far, not nailed down too much (as privateers could operate in a number of ways). Or perhaps something more fitting of the name Armok itself, like "Missionaries of Armok", of "Harbingers of Armok", or simply something to highlight that we're not just a random corp but bound by something else, "Brotherhood of Armok"

As stated, those are pretty weak examples of what I mean as I was just throwing them onto the forums as I wrote the post. But I hope they illustrate the sort of angle I'm coming from?

I'm a fan of any of those name choices, actually. Privateers might be just a bit too piratical or aggressive, but it's still fine. Last three sound great.

So do you guys focus on mining mainly along with being do-gooders? Obviously not pirates but this game confuses me. I guess I'll get the hang of it.

Do-gooders? No such thing in EVE :P

I dont think the Bay12ers have anything specific against pirating. Most of us probably dont have the experience and skills to do it effectively yet though.

Bloody hell, this game has so much to do. 0_0 I'll try and find something I enjoy doing and hopefully it's not completely opposite from the corp.

From the sounds of it, the Corp will only be a focus. We'll still need people of all sorts for various roles. You need to fund a war machine, miners need protection, blah blah blah.

Hey guys, just thought I'd introduce myself here since I've spoken to a few of you in game. In-game my name is Randall Selsinki, I have very little experience I'm currently little over half way in the career tutorial missions, and I'm up for whatever. Not sure what path to take yet, I'm leaning towards exploration but mining and trading looks fun. Whatever it is I'd love to play alongside you guys  :D I'm currently playing a two week trial but hope to get enough money to subscribe soon.

Anyway, that's that, I hope to play with you chaps soon!  8)

Ey, I saw you earlier. I'm Morgan Pauperman. You may recognize me as the guy who's too excited about having a Manticore he doesn't have the necessary skills to fly yet.
