Thats the problem with armor tanking though, all damage mods are lows (except EW mods like target painters), and all armor tanking is low. :(  The main morale though, is to fly very safely till you get used to your ship and level 4's. Losing a battle ship sucks.

Ah, I have 7 Lows to use, I'm planning on using 5 for the tank (4 Hardeners, 2 of each of the main damage types in the mission, and a repper), and 2 damage mods isn't bad, I think.

I don't have enough Mids to mount a decent shield tank anyway. I want a tracking Comp in the mids, and that leaves me 3 for a tank, which is just silly.

After buying and fitting a Harbi for tomorrows Roam, I'm again 147 million from the Abaddon. I really need to stop spending money.

Has anyone set up a B12 chat channel? As I live in a WH I wont always be able to drop out into K-Space in order to fly with you guys, but I'd love the chance to chat and just hang out with people from here, and when the stars align and there's a conveniently places exit into K-Space, join up with any B12 roams going on :D

A B12 chat channel is a really neat idea, I'd suggest simply 'Bay12 Eve', seeing as I'm a sucker for simplicity. Any objections? Other suggestions?
Sounds good to me, joining

I think he was poking fun at all the talk of "mids", "lows" and "reppers".  It'd look pretty alien to someone who hasn't played before.

Well, started a trial again, this time with a friend. Just got a coercer on my second trial day, though I don't have much to do with it other than continue shooting tutorial baddies. Yes, this is far less impressive than what all you guys talk of doing, but its strangely satisfying to shoot those silly little corpii followers with a halfdozen lasers XD

If you're in a destroyer, start looking at what cruiser you want to be flying. I'd recommend the Omen or the Arbitrator. Omen's a straightforward gunboat, Arbitrator's a Drone Carrier. The Maller's main feature is its tank, and the Augoror is a proto-logistics boat, neither of which are too handy in a Level 2 mission.

If you go for the Arbitrator, get drones to 5, Drone Interfacing to 3-4, Scout Drone Operation to 5, and probably Gallente Drone specialisation to at least 2. Then get Hammerhead IIs. Omen wants 4 focused medium Beam lasers, with Microwave, Standard, Multifreq and possibly X-Ray, along with a medium armour repairer, 2 mission specific Armour hardeners, a bunch of Cap Recharger IIs in the mid slots, and the last lows filled with Heatsinks. It can fit 5 turrets, but actually getting that many on and not falling apart under fire is ridiculously hard.

Arbitrator probably wants all that Tank gear, too. And 2 focused medium beams.

Let me (Anja Galena) know when you're on, and I'll come and give you a hand with whatever you're doing.

Considering I haven't even done that many level I missions yet, I doubt I'll be doing IIs any time soon. I enjoy taking my time, flying around, trying out the mining and industry and planet stuff too, so I might not get to getting a cruiser for a while. Thanks for the help offer though, if I need anything, I'll contact you :)

I'd absolutely recommend trying everything out. Level 1 skills are quick to train, and while you obviously won't be uber-1337 at them, you can at least sample the different flavours of what EVE has to offer. Remember, for every brave pilot flying into battle and getting yet another ship toasted, there's an industrial tycoon building his new ship and modules, a miner collecting and refining the ore required, etc.  :D

(That said, high-level mining is boring. Lock an asteroid --> Activate mining modules --> Pray your passive tank will hold off the rats --> Go read a book for a few hours. Just thought I'd let you know.  ;) )

Combat with a side of Manufacturing is the way I went. After every mission, I loot and salvage my wrecks, and make Rigs out of whatever comes out. I mostly use them on my own ship, but if I'm rigged up, a lot of rigs are pretty damn expensive, so I can make a bit of money off them, too.

Planet stuff can be lucrative, but avoid putting down roots somewhere you aren't going to stay for too long, and read up on it. Hell, that's good advice for whatever you do. Read up on it. And feel free to ask about anything it doesn't explain very well.

If you are making rigs, and want to rake in some cash, go for Medium Core Defense Field Purger and Extender rigs. They go for quite a bit, and sell VERY well. Or you can go for Large Core Capacitor Circuit rigs as well.

I'm in Amarr space, so I don't get very much Shield-related salvage, which will make shield rigs hard to do. I do, however, make a lot of Cap Control Rigs. Next 2 or 3 I make are going to be large ones for the 'Baddon, then I'll start selling them. Only need a few more tripped power circuits.

Someone mind sending me a buddy invite once my itch has grown large enough? I'd love to give EVE another go.
