pretty sure the one about defending a yatch with some medic robots wasnt exactly a runaway type of mission.

anyways, fitted an artillery stabber with active shield and its working so far. ironica that this thing is cheaper and can do the thing with just some hardeners whereas the Rupture was autocannon fitted and even with bulky resistances (because it was a wormhole fit) it was getting shredded by the rats.

i guess close combat just doesnt work for missions.

Wormhole rats actually do less damage per resist type than mission rats, where early wormhole rats can be solo'd with around 67-75% on each type resists, you'll want around 75-90% specific damage type resists for missions with an active repper of type, even level twos, especially if you're in a ship that can't just be stupid(Like a Gila 100mn fit, VNI 100mn fit, or Dominix). An Autocannon rupture, which has to approach head on and get relatively close, and can't stay out of range of enemy guns easy, isn't a ship that can be stupid. Even in PVE.

If you've got the skills a Vexor and the Navy Vexor are essentially perfect ratting cruisers. Though the drone skill requirements are fairly hefty to use them fully effectively. I used to fly one without a repper in level 2's because you can speed tank so effectively with a 100mn AB. They may have nerfed this since I played last.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that particular mission has a bunch of elite cruisers? Such enemies hit hard and tank hard.

Personally I've always gone kitey with mission ships as having some distance helps mitigate alot of damage and mission rats usually go down quickly even at range.

as far as i saw, it was just plain "mercenary" NPCs (balanced legion hulls). i dont really understand how did that went wrong taking in account the ship was capable of doing C1 anomalies and sleepers hit harder than those guys.

in other news:

the Arms Race update has been deployed today, it adds some stuff for Resource War sites, the new Alpha Skill limit (need injectors to reach it) and some other stuff. there will be a Rogue Drone event to celebrate, not sure if it has started already. but it has accelerators and that stuff, may be quite profittable.

as for me, well, the Stabber is doing its job. its mostly warp to the pocket, launch the MTU and start sniping the rats before they reach me. i almost get pulled into armor during the Gurista blockade, but its mostly because the 3rd wave frigates start shooting ECM even at 30+ km range, so i had to wait for them to get close and get a window of oportunity for the drones to attack them. that with an NPC cruiser shooting at me at close range.

if i had been the rupture, that would have been the moment it would have exploded i guess. really sad.

now that the new update is out, i have to start saving money to buy those injectors. i've already have like 7 plex in the vault so the first one is cheaper. but will probably need a lot of isk to complete the 20 plex it requires to buy from the store.

EDIT:

well well well, color me impressed, the amount of skills avaliable now is huge. heck, you can even use Heavy Drones (sentries are still a no no). PLEX prices are gonna go big then, if people can access to Gurista ships and each respective drone size, then ratting will become much more lucrative for alphas.

EDIT2:

ok, you gotta be kidding, now alphas can access to T2 drones (yes, even heavies). ratting is gonna be really broken in a Navy Vexor. that's too much, but i guess it had to be done so not to leave droneboats behind compared to other weapon platforms.

lvl 2 is the maximum from what i've seen in the lists. just enough so you can get a good increase over T1, not sure about faction.

the stabber seems for most purposes, a good mission boat. 4 turrets are more than enough to break the rats (except for those elite frigates, have to wait for the drones to get the job done), this leaves 2 highs open to put salvagers on it, so i can clean the wrecks right after combat ends for extra cash.

it would probably get shredded in Wormholes tho. so in that regard, the Rupture seems much better (while still struggling). would have to give a try, im still focused on getting the last alpha skills up then start stocking money for the injectors.

Way back when I used to run missions in a shield rupture. ...I never liked it and was happy when I could change into a Hurricane, still one of my favourite ships to fly, even if it might not be what it was back then. (they stole the 2nd utility high  :'()
Well, would be if I was playing. :D

I've been nursing my new char for a long time like a bonsai tree, meaning to get back into the game, training them skills but barely playing - 'tis a curse.

should take it for a stroll throught low sec or something.

the event drone sites seem cool but its hard to get one that isnt being done already. too much people in this mission hubs. maybe you could do that to pass the time. you get a cerebral accelerator a crate with a racial BC hull and the skillbook to fly it. if you get the full points you can get another crate with a racial battleship and the skillbook.

also, there's the chance for getting some skins from the drones. not sure which but i think its the equivalente of the yoiul festival or whatever.

Just one thing to note about doing PvE in low, at least in my experience. If you find a quiet pocket you'll likely have some time to complete whatever content it is you're looking to partake in... but if a local pirate spots you they'll camp that system like a dog with a bone... you could log out for a time and come back to find them still waiting for ya'.

when i referred to low sec i was talking more on the PvP side. but yeah, sometimes you can do a complete expedition from a high sec anom, depends much on the timezone and the amount of people in the area.

ok, it took the whole day but finally got the 15K LP mark with Caldari Navy, got the security connections book, with that the only missing skills for the 5 million skillset are those related to Mining and Industry (heavy missiles and heavy assault missiles are missing too but they're probably expensive so im going to leave them last, i dont use missile ships anyways).

i did a Rogue Swarm Nest site in the system, sadly no skin, but i got the silly "Rorqual Design Changes Log" item along with salvage (lots of drones, and you can get some cash out of the wrecks even if they dont drop anything outside of the sentient boss).

with that i completed the first 60 points of the event and got the crate with a Hurricane and the Minmatar BC skillbook. injected the book (it seems you can learn this stuff if you havent reached the 5 million SP limit), sold the ship for a good 40 million. that upped me to more than 70 million right now. i've recovered a lot of money from the Stabber deal, and that's just the liquid isk, i've got almost 30 million (according to the Lonetrek market numbers) from looting and salvaging, and i cant buy the ammunition 2 jumps out of the mission hub so i think its best if i dont spend into a BC/FC and just keep going.

there seems to be a daily injector as reward for the 120 points mark in the agency, so that should be the aim for tomorrow apart of mission running.

getting close to 40 million in loot. have got some dank missions with big LP and money rewards like that 3 stage scouting mission (tried to take on the rats of the 1st mission but yeah, the cruiser wasnt fit to tank so much damage, too much elite cruisers on top of BCs) and then there was the medical drone thing, i was able to snipe most of the rats until the cruisers were the only ones left, but i had to get out of the pocket and return because they were breaking into armor. still, good payout and the stabber survived.

im still low on LP (4.5K or so). so it will take some time to get isk out of it. the good thing is that i got some agency points from the missions and completed the 120 points mark for that daily injector. also, the boss in one of the event sites dropped a Glacial Drift skin, but its for the Dagon. guess i'll keep it and try to wait until the price gets high to see if i can sell it for billions. there was also a vial of blood lore item (from the 1st blood raider sotiyo down according to the description).

the missions are getting higher in requirements. not sure how much time will take to get to 180 points for that last crate. but there's still 6 day left before the event ends.

EDIT:

also, i dont get why people complain about the Hurricane nerfs. the old cane still exist in the navy version (heck, even the lore state its the same hull or so), and you can do a pretty good PvP fit for it using 650mm artilleries. the only requirement is to leave one low open to add a Reactor Control Unit II to compensate the powergrid issues. outside of that you can add practically everything, neut, point, scram, web, mwd, AAR, damage control, 2 gyros, an EANMII, and rigs.

from the Osmium simulation it gets a big DPS using quake, with navy EMP being second along with tremor for big range sniping. you can tank almost 200 burst damage with the repper or 61 or so per second.

and thats without overheating, so i dont know how much damage and tank you want to add into that thing without getting into balance or fitting issues.

The T2 ammos are generally not great, too specialized and, above all, too prone to missing shots against small things (At least the long-range ammo is, as I recall). Fusion is your BEST FRIEND, use it always. Except for when you should be using EMP, or...plasma? Yeah, phased plasma or something like that. The other two half-range lots-o'-damage ammo types.

re: Hurricane nerfs

Well, you used to have to pay a lot less for almost the same ship. And 2 neuts on a autocannon platform where fun. For PvE the 2 launchers were nice to add to your drone damage against those annoying elite frigs. (because when you use a cane in pve you usually don't have that many skills yet).
