I kinda doubt that.  The only good thing about small-scale mining is that it's low-risk and low-exposure (if you're not being daft about it).  Blitzing L3s in a cheaply fitted BC will be better money than punching rocks with expanded Alpha skills.  The role bonuses you lose for using a not-mining hull won't be recovered by hull size, or associated logistical hassle for not having an ore hold.

Barges aren't on the list to keep botters/RMTers hemmed in.  The last thing EVE needs is a reliable ISK faucet for those jerks.
True, most will use a vni or a gila because both of will make roughly 40 mil per hour. However, your wrong about the role bonus, A rokh with 8 mining laser 2 and 4 mining upgrades 2 will mine with the new alpha skills will mine about 49k m3 per hour without any mining boost. Procuror with barge 5, astrology 5(not included in the rokh numbers) and mining 5(4 for rokh) will mine 55.8k m3 per hour. Now for null sec mining that ends up being low, sitting at 13ish mil per hour depending on the ore. Now if you add on a rorqual that is giving mining boosts that goes up to 113.8k m3/h(31 mil per hour) for rokh and 130k m3/h(36 mil per hour). That is pretty well comparable in my opinion to null sec ratting, which I don't really know how that compares to your blitzing L3s. The main thing is the time it takes and skillpoint requirement for caldari battleship 1, mining 4 and mining upgrades 4 is FAR lower then what it takes for a ratting ship because tanking skills. That will be the main draw for bots who frequently will get banned, lower cycle time to start generating isk again after a ban wave, unless the rorqual also gets banned then I guess that is an even larger setback, but they might just use a porpoise with t1 links...hm...more math.

...that's a lot of "if"s, and a lot of secondary support.  Don't hold your breath.

buying a combat battleship to mine will only get you ganked. i'd rather keep mining in a 3 million (or less i think) Venture than having to replace a 100+ million battleship with gimped tank because it was built for mining.

https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/new-alpha-training-option/

another devblog about the new Alpha Clone training in December's update. in short, they are adding a new "injector" which you can buy with PLEX in the store or with real money from the official site. it adds the equivalent of 1 day of Omega skill training to your character in the form of unallocated skillpoints (50K according to the devblog).

you can only use one of these per day and only if you are in Alpha Clone state (can also sell it in the market).

the item was mostly created so Alphas could invest into skill training without having to pay 1 month of Omega with PLEX/money just for a few skills. the system was also made to evade having to make stuff like  a smaller game time option which would mean stuff like "1 day cyno alts/cloaky campers" and stuff like that.

anyways i would save PLEX for this. i dont fly capitals (too much of a long term, needs Omega, cant get time to grind for monthly plex). so being able to purchase only a handfull of plex for injectors sounds much more achievable. and i get to fly (and die) in my favorite Battleships.

I might have to use something like that, depending on which industrial skills and research skills are available...

Well, first I need to start, you know, playing again, and find a corp/alliance to join (Suggestions? Preferably a smallish wormhole corp with alliance support)

getting finished with the Minmatar Alpha Skills, the only missing skills to inject are the connections ones, outside of that i've gotta train some industry, mining and missile skills to complete the set.

was thinking on selling the AARs but havent checked the market history to see if there's a good profit on it.

the idea is to finish the alpha skills and have a backup ship before moving into WH space. it would be really cool to survive a whole year or so there, one can dream i guess.

tried something i've never done in this game. trading commodities between NPC stations. Wheat seems to be the most reliable, allthought there are others that have a much bigger price, the problem is that most of the time the best selling places are in lowsec or require a fairly long trip. i got a route of 3-4 jumps between 2 stations with a good margin.

a full cargo fitted Mammoth can net a bit over 3 million per trip while only investing a bit over 2 million. much better income than doing L1 missions. (this with alpha skills, omega would probably able to carry much more).

The problem is that if you buy and sell like that the prices change as if it was run by supply and demand, and so it's not that profitable for more than one, MAYBE two trips.

yeah just noticed that. too weird of a system, even the X3 NPC economy is more balanced. oh well, guess im gonna do the extra trips. see if i can sell the stuff near the buying point.

EDIT:

the NPC market is weird, found an 7-8 jump route and the buy price is actually going down, the other route was upping the price instead. i dont get it but im doing the profit anyways. well, its like 700-800K per trip, it will take a time to return the investment but the numbers are going up.

How long are your trips ? wouldn't you make more money playing the "guess the orbit" minigame (by selling the crates of the skins you get at each level) ?

that was like 7-8 jumps from point A to point B.

anyways, im gonna do some missions in a .5 system, want to check if i can get better income from security missions there since i dont have connection skills yet.

also...

just noticed something regarding the rupture. at lvl 4 skills and with artilleries i can get 1K damage per volley at roughly 4-5 seconds per shot. this along with drones means i have almost the same DPS (on paper) compared to using autocannons.

Autocannons do like 450-470 damage per volley in half the time it takes for an artillery, with much better tracking.

what im trying to figure out is if Artilleries would be better in this case. with EMP M im still in brawling range, with a 1 km difference between Web and guns. so i should be able to web a target, then orbit at 10 and dish damage on it.

this while having to manage the capacitor because artilleries make me downgrade from Large to Medium Cap Battery II. thus i have to rush for the targets with the AB then shut it off and keep only the Web and Armor repper on.

i dont have this issue with Autos, which have a bit over 1 km optimal with EMP and can use the Large Cap Battery to keep everything on.

what do you think? would artilleries be better against those Sleeper Drones or should i keep the autos? this is a pretty cheap fit (less than 30 million). so no navy stuff, i'd probable get better numbers with faction modules but i dont really have the money to buy that kind of stuff.

Against Sleepers? It depends a lot, but so long as you stick to C1/C2 sites you'll be fine with either one. After that, well, if you're in a cruiser you're screwed either way.

Autos are probably better, because they will have higher DPS on those hard-to-hit Sleeper frigates.

well the idea is to web the targets then kill them one by one. not sure if they would still evade the damage.

im still out of the money to spend it so want to make sure either option is valid. tanking sleepers in C1s is doable, dishing enough damage is what preocupies my. that's what i wanted to know if using the artilleries would be a proper increase compared to autos.

got enough money out of the missions, loot, AARs and the mammoth to buy and insure the Rupture. went with autocannons, however, i didnt have enough money for mobile tractor so, i may have to stay in empire space for a while. or i could go straight into WH space and just pick the loot wherever i go.

EDIT:

spent like 1-2 hours trying to find a C1, found a C2 that connected to a lot of places except what i was looking for, ended in another C2, it seemed to be inhabited, first wormhole found on that system was a high sec connection, entered it because of a Claymore in the scanner, ended again in The Citadel region.

im gonna leave the ship in a quiet system to see if i can catch a better hole tomorrow, if possible.

spent 2 hours probing for wormholes. travelled throught 3 C2 holes but still no C1 connection. went to a pocket system in empire space to see if there were holes, found 2 Haunted Yards instead and some other combat sites. decided to do the yards, got an expedition.

the Web + Autos work as a charm. sometimes the rats get too close and i cant shoot properly but thankfully they dont focus drones so i can throw the warrior 1s for support. minimal distance to get a shot is like 2.5 km. so yeah, the ship works.

havent been able to test them against Sleeper Drones but this is close, and im getting the money for the Mobile Tractor Unit at the same time.

EDIT:

the expedition only scalated 2 times. dont know why it ended so soon but oh well, got some dank loot (no sentient or chips but its something). it left me 1 jump from Arnon so i think im gonna do the SoE Epic Arc. need to up some faction standings.

EDIT2:

currently doing the Gallente part of the mission arc. also, seems the disks i got from the Haunted Yards can be used to open the gates in a Gurista 1/10 site, the downside is that the site allows only frigates. a simulated Rifter can get the job done aparently, the problem is that since they took the utility high, i cant add a probe scanner to it so i can search and do the sites on the fly. the Breacher doesnt have a free high for it either, so its either Probe or Slasher, one is a exploration ship so no damage bonuses, and the other is a tacklerwith low health stats. quite of a dilemma actually.

EDIT3:

correction, the Slasher gets a shield close to that of the Rifter but you have to invest in Cap and CPU rigs to fit everything. best case scenario would be to get a Firetail but faction frigs are pretty expensive and its for a single job so its not worth it (well its kinda worthy because there's a chance to get a Worm BPC and some faction modules but still).
