Ahh, good to see so many faithful Amarrians ;)

On the note of racial ships, you can train up their skills fairly easily. You wont lock anything out by picking a specific race, it will just affect your initial skill distribution and faction standings, but by and large it's not really important and within a week you could easily be able to fly every racial ship to the same standards as the ships you could fly when you first created with your race.

I'm based in Amarr myself, in the Kor-Azor region of space on the fringes of low-sec, in a 0.5 system called Ordion. If anyone should need any advice or help with missions, I'm always happy to help :) Additionally, as there seems to be a little interest, I'll extend the offer to everyone: the next time I dip into wormhole space with my corp, if anyone of you would like to tag along I'll put a shout out in the B12 channel. If there's a lot of interest we'll find a gentle system to start you off in, just so you can say you've been to W-Space if nothing else. But for those who want to explore a bit further, the money is especially good.

Comments section looks like a lot of super-ordinary people complaining because their feelings are hurt. It's actually true that consumer bases for games will complain excessively when something new pops in that they haven't spent their childhoods dreaming might be good on paper. I've seen this a hunded times, and the the EVE CEO is on the right track, because it ends up being fine he majority of the time (SW: Galaxies being the exception).

I don't think it's likely this time. I suspect a relatively large drop in active accounts (probably about 10k) with CCP carrying on to put "gold ammo" in the game and then EVERYONE quits.

I mean, the whole Aurum thing has inflated PLEX prices massively, hasn't it? Why CCP didn't just make it so you could buy Aurum and trade Aurum for ISK, I don't know. ( Probably to obfuscate prices? And make it so you had to pay more for a $80 item? )

Not really, and they've saide they'll be making sure by adjusting prices that it won't. Doomsayers got very little to hold it all to and Fikes pretty much hit it spot on earlier.

Good lord, that's where I used to live. 2 L3 navy agents and an L4, in 0.5 sec space, it was just what I was after. It's possible that you saw me around, I'm Anja Galena in game.

And yes, W-space money is awesome. My corp's living in a C4, I believe, and when I last played we were looking at building a Carrier. Even my first excursion to W-space made me around 150 million, which was split between 2 people, and bought my first Abaddon.

Industrial corp is now mostly set up. Corp ticker is -HFS- on account of those danged Russians at Hussars French-fry Shack or whatever they call themselves taking the preferred abbreviation. Applications are being accepted, or at least will be once the servers come back up after the patch downtime.

Anyone who still wants into the game should pm me for an extended trial invite.

The plex price self-corrected downward from ~400mil to ~300mil when people saw what Aurum actually were and would buy. So yeah. Pricing is a little bit self correcting...

My PSU died last night, so I'm out of game for a few days while a replacement ships from Amazon.

I've been bouncing around Empire space, running L3 missions to improve my standings.  Right now I'm in Minmatar space, not far from Rens.  I could hop over to Amarr space easily enough.

Name is Olvel in-game.

Sounds like a cool game -- pity I, as a rule, do NOT pay subscriptions. Just don't have the money.
Don't suppose a casual (on the computer 2-3hr/day or less on school days) player can get self-sustaining cash in 3 weeks eh? :-[

No, I don't think you could. 300 million isk takes a while to earn.

I would still suggest you give the trail a shot. Couldn't hurt. Even if you just make it through the tutorial, at least you can send us the money you made.

Wasn't it 100 mil before the Aurum thingy?

Not that I ever saw. ~300 mil was pretty standard around, oh, three months ago.

Aye, 340 is the lowest I've seen it in recent months, though in places it's still up there at 400 (which is where I sell mine, for that reason) I'd say PLEX are still a bit inflated since before Incarna, but not nearly as much so as they were initially.

In regards to being self sufficient in game within 3 weeks. Without substantial support from other players, I don't think it's likely I'm afraid :( What I tell my friends when they show interest is: "Be prepared to pay for the game for 3 months. After that, you will probably be in a position to either make money by trading (using the money you built up missioning as your starting capital) or have enough skills to make it in wormholes up to C4."

With dedicated training for 3 months and a fair amount of time playing every week you'll be able to, but as a new person you shouldn't expect it imo.

Naturally when I say this to friends, it's with every intention of supporting them through it. Friends wouldn't leave friends to fend for themselves :) But the point I was trying to make, without getting bogged down in details, is that people should come to the game with every intention of paying their subscription fee for a few months at least before they're in a position where they'll be able to make enough money per month to pay for it via ISK and PLEX.

I know so many people who hope that in the time they have a trial account, or after paying a single month's subscription, that they'll be able to work hard and save up enough to pay for the next month. I guess some people may achieve that goal, but those few are a very small percentage of the people who try, and I dare say they have to play the game as if it were a second job to achieve that.

My personal philosophy is: Once I feel guilty about not logging on to earn ISK, because I'm falling behind in getting my next PLEX, then it's time to stop playing the game.

I find that serves me well as a general "It's about time to take another break" alarm.
