5-6pm what time zone?

Regarding incursions: I see a lot of talk about battlecruisers and such, is that just because of the cost issue? Is it alright to kit out/train for a battleship or strategic cruiser for these instead?

Sure, BS is fine (though quite a few get outclassed by the tier 3 bc for vanguard fleets). T3s...unless we need a webloki, a bs is better. (for shieldfleets. Armorfleets use legions frequently)

Sounds good. I'll set up a skill plan to round out my shield skills.

How did we suddenly go from armor to shield? I thought we only had two armor logi pilots?

I'd love to play this game. I've played the trial at least twice now. If only I had the cash, or the time to farm enough ISK to buy membership in-game (if thats even possible).

If I got an invite to join from a friend then I would get 21 days free. Extra 7 days to earn that ISK..

I think if I then go to a full account then the friend gets a 30 day plex, so it wouldn't be entirely out of line asking for 100-150m ISK donation, but I'm not the type to go asking for money in any form, for any reason. Its interesting thinking about way I could finagle the funds though.

As has been said here before, don't expect to be able to buy a plex in game during a trial... it's not impossible, but completely unrealistic. Even with seed money like that you'll have to multiply it 4-7x over the next 3 weeks.

And then start all over again the next month with next to nothing since you spent it all on a plex.

And I will tell you making money is VERY slow early on. I've got months of skills into this game and just upgraded to battlecruisers and I'd still struggle to make enough for a plex without 50-100+ hours of work exclusively to pay for that plex... Alternatively, I could work in the real world for 2 hours and pay for a month and still have enough left over for a sandwich.

Of course, this has all been said before... and it probably won't deter anyone from trying, but don't drag your friend into some weird "donation" scheme which will likely end up being a waste of money for them.

Like I said, I wouldn't be one to do something like that.

If you had trained up to a retriever and spent every waking hour mining in your venture/retriever, you could maaaayyybbeeee make 400m in a month. You'd have to mine every single day for hours upon end, though. Even then, maybe. I feel like with a retriever, it'd be possible, but that's a week or more of your trial spent training those skills.

Is that even a skill you can research in a trial account? It limits some things when you're in a trial account.

EDIT: Never mind. Pretend I never said anything. The way I'm talking about this people will start to get the wrong idea and I don't feel like dealing with that.

getting plex as trial is possible "only" if nice corp and nice poeple with acces to level 4 missions
and nice enough to leave all salvage to rookies :)
That we did when i was on last corp on null.
Sure the older pilots had steady income on something else and considering 50mil+ on bad day was pocket money.

I am up for what ever with Incursions. I mainly fly armor tank (Abaddon, a mean tank at that) but I also have a shield tank (Maelstrom).

I plan to save up for that tempest build, but seeing as I literally just bought the Maelstrom, it might be a few days at least.

On the logistics side, I am only about a week away from being able to fly a Basilisk. I don't have very good remote armor or shield skills, but I've got to be closer than most on those as well.

How did we suddenly go from armor to shield? I thought we only had two armor logi pilots?

It is just me saying that I would prefer shields. I have the most incursion experience here, I think (been doing them for around 2 years now), but have never been in an armor fleet.
Shield is dominating incursions.
To illustrate: I was in an HQ fleet the other day. Those are the 40 man fleets, plus boosters and waitlist people. We are usually around 50 in fleet, 40 on grid. With us (ISN), there were three other HQ fleets in the system: DIN Flotten, TVP and a Russian one. All of them shield tanked. That is 160 active pilots, probably 180-200 in fleets all in all (TVP does not use waitlists they pick you when needed, usually in order of x-ing up, so new players with worse ships can fly with them as well), vs. no armor pilots.
Ludus is one of the most well known armor FCs, and he has to post in incursion local frequently, to keep his fleets running.

All that does not mean that armor fleets don't work. But they can't really compete with shield fleets, and I am not sure if they are as forgiving as shield fleets are, as the reps hit later.
We still have time to figure it out and train some skills anyway.
And for all those interested in armor fleets, I have also posted the armor channel, if someone flies with them I'd be happy to hear about their experience.

Fikes: You only need shield repair skills with a Basilisk anyway. :)
If you have logistics 5 you only need one incoming cap transfer, so you could capchain with any bs that has a utility high slot. Logistics 4 would mean you need two transfers. A 2nd basi would be best, of course, but a tempest could do. I would probably fly a fleet tempest, if i am not flying logi.
