I hope these organizations find a way to continue operating in open defiance of the law. And if the police try to shut them down, well...2011 has been a good year for civil unrest so far, why stop now?

Oh, I lost hope in our government the moment the Liberal Democrats said they wished to join the Conservatives in forming a new government.
Everything since then has just been a joke.

Honestly, the only way Britain can avoid more idiotic law changes like this is either to have a re-election where by the Liberal Democrats don't power snatch themselves into the right wing, or to make V for Vendetta a documentary.

The former is preferable by almost everyone. (With the exception of Nick Clegg, because he won't be able to pretend to have some power.)
...But the latter? 'Eh, fireworks are fun too.

Wow, that is one of the most insane things I have ever heard.  Does anybody know about any soup kitchens that are going to defy this ban and which accept donations online?

It's illegal to be homeless. If found homeless, you will be fined. Homeless people don't have much money. If you can't pay the fines, what are they gonna do with you? Throw you in jail, where the living conditions are better?

Yeah, fantastic way to save money, that.  It's not like jailing someone costs more then 20k a year.

Maybe they can force the destitute to stay incarcerated until they pay the state for the cost of shelter?  And maybe make them work to earn that money?  Some sort of state run "prisons for people owing debts" could be quite profitable!

As far as I have seen, the homeless usually have some kind of disability. So yes, Britain hates disabled people.

Unfortunately not, although I do intend to find out and will be sure to post details if so.

There is one project I'm aware of that aims to help out in whatever small way it can, but I'm not sure if the organizer wants it to be known.  I'll let you know if he says it's alright.

Surprisingly true, especially from the Government.

Also, isn't this another one of those blatant "we don't give a damn about the European Court's Law of Human Rights!" laws again, is it?
I don't actually know what's part of the EU Law of Human Rights, but I'm assuming the right to be homeless ranks somewhere there, if the right to vote is there. (From our previous whoo-harr about the Government trying to ban ex-con votes.)
